Tallyvane Pixel for AppLovin Ads

Description

AppLovin opened its ad platform (Axon) to every online shop. Its own setup apps are for Shopify, so WooCommerce shops are told to wire the pixel by hand through Google Tag Manager. This plugin does the whole setup for WooCommerce in a few minutes, free.

Free, everything included

  • AppLovin pixel on every page with the full shopping funnel: page_view, view_item, add_to_cart (including AJAX and block buttons), begin_checkout and purchase, in the exact format AppLovin asks for.
  • Server-side sales through the AppLovin Conversion API. Each paid order is also sent from your server, so ad blockers and browser privacy settings cannot hide it. The pixel and the server share one ID per order, so AppLovin counts each sale once.
  • Ad click matching. The click IDs AppLovin adds to your links (aleid, alart) are kept with the order, so sales are credited to the right ad even when the pixel is blocked.
  • Product catalog feed for AppLovin’s Dynamic Product Catalog: one private link, every product and variation, IDs that match the pixel, refreshed daily by AppLovin.
  • Customer matching (optional): sends the buyer’s email and phone with purchases; AppLovin turns them into a one-way code (hash).
  • Cookie consent: can wait for marketing consent from any consent plugin that supports the WP Consent API.
  • Works with the block checkout and the classic checkout, and with WooCommerce order storage (HPOS).
  • A log of the last sales sent from your server, with plain-English errors.

Spend Guard alerts (optional service)

Spend Guard reads your AppLovin numbers and emails you before money is wasted. It only watches and warns; it never changes your campaigns.

  • Free: an email when a campaign spends a set amount in a day with no sales, checked daily.
  • Pro ($29 a month, first 7 days free): hourly checks, return on ad spend below your target, daily spend limit reached, sudden spend jumps, “AppLovin is not seeing your sales” (your shop saw orders from AppLovin clicks but AppLovin recorded none), and a weekly report.
  • Try it first with demo numbers, no AppLovin account needed.

Nothing is sent to Spend Guard unless you connect it. See “External services” below.

Tallyvane and Nero Engine Group Ltd are not affiliated with or endorsed by AppLovin. AppLovin and Axon are trademarks of AppLovin Corporation.

External services

This plugin connects to the following services.

AppLovin (Axon) pixel and Conversion API, run by AppLovin Corporation. Used to measure your ads, which is the purpose of the plugin.

  • When the pixel is on (an Event Key is saved), your shop’s pages load AppLovin’s pixel scripts from https://s.axon.ai/pixel.js and https://res4.applovin.com/, which send page views and shop events (products viewed, added to cart, checkout started, purchases with order value and items, and, if “Customer matching” is on, the buyer’s email and phone) from the visitor’s browser to AppLovin. If “Cookie consent” is on, this only happens after marketing consent.
  • When server-side sales are on (a Conversion API key is saved), each paid order is sent from your server to https://b.applovin.com/v1/event: order value, tax, shipping, currency, items, order ID, the visitor’s IP address and browser name, AppLovin’s click IDs and visitor cookie, and, if “Customer matching” is on, the buyer’s email, phone, user ID, country and postcode.
  • AppLovin terms: https://www.applovin.com/terms/ and privacy policy: https://www.applovin.com/privacy/

Tallyvane Spend Guard (optional), run by Nero Engine Group Ltd (UK company 16521432), at https://spend-guard-woo.nerolabs.workers.dev. Nothing is sent until you tick the agreement box and click Connect on the Spend Guard tab.

  • On connect: your AppLovin Report Key, the alert email address, your site’s address and name, currency, time zone and the plugin version.
  • Every hour while connected: daily order totals for the last 8 days (number of orders, their value, and how many came from an AppLovin ad click). No customer details and no individual orders.
  • When you open the Spend Guard tab or save its settings: your alert settings, and the service sends back your alerts and AppLovin numbers.
  • Disconnecting, or deleting the plugin, asks the service to delete your site’s data.
  • Terms: https://spend-guard-woo.nerolabs.workers.dev/terms and privacy policy: https://spend-guard-woo.nerolabs.workers.dev/privacy
  • Pro is paid through Stripe (https://stripe.com/legal and https://stripe.com/privacy) on a payment page you open yourself.

Installation

  1. Install and activate the plugin. WooCommerce must be active.
  2. Go to WooCommerce > AppLovin Ads.
  3. In AppLovin Ads Manager, open your account menu, then Keys. Copy the Event Key (and the Conversion API key for server-side sales) into the plugin and save.
  4. Optional: tick Catalog link, save, and paste the link into AppLovin’s Catalog manager (Data source: Import from a file).
  5. Optional: open the Spend Guard alerts tab, paste your Report Key and connect, or try it with demo numbers.

If you already added the AppLovin pixel by hand or through Google Tag Manager, remove that copy so events are not sent twice.

FAQ

Where do I find my keys?

AppLovin Ads Manager, account menu (top right), Keys. The Event Key turns on the pixel. The Conversion API key is needed for server-side sales; if you do not see it, ask AppLovin support to enable it. The Report Key is only used by Spend Guard and can only read reports.

Will sales be counted twice?

No. The pixel and the server send the same dedupe_id for each order, and AppLovin keeps one.

Does it work with cookie consent banners?

Yes, if your consent plugin supports the WP Consent API. Turn on “Cookie consent” and the pixel waits for marketing consent.

Which orders are sent from the server?

Orders placed through the shop checkout, once each, when they become processing or completed (or when payment completes). Orders typed in by staff are skipped.

Why are some products missing from the catalog?

AppLovin needs a price and a JPG or PNG image. The settings page shows how many products were skipped.

Can Spend Guard pause my campaigns?

No. It only reads your reports and emails you.
