smart Archive Page Remove

Description

This Plugin allows you to remove Archive Pages automatically generated by WordPress

See also Plugin Homepage and Plugin Doc

WordPress automatically generates several archives for your posts:

  • Author based
  • Category based
  • Tag based
  • Date based (daily, monthly and yearly)

Even if you do not want to use these Pages – e.g. you don’t want to have an author based archive page on a single author blog or you don’t want to have a daily archive because you don’t post several times a day – they exist and they can be accessed by their automated generated URL.

The smart Archive Page Remove Plugin adds an item ‘Archive Pages’ in the ‘Settings’ section of your WordPress Admin. Here you can select which Archive Pages you want to remove.

Removed Archive Pages are no longer accessible and cause a 404 page not found error. They can be restored anytime.

Worked Great

This worked great. I would sugest an option to change the returned code. I would like to send a (420 Content Deleted) rather than a 404.

Just what I needed

I’ve been checking my traffic on Wordfence and noticed a lot of hits on author and category pages. I only use categories for my own organization of posts, so no one else needs to see them. Since I’m the only author, that page isn’t necessary either. This plugin made all of those pages disappear!
