RTM Font Showcase

Description

A font product on a WooCommerce shop is usually a picture of some lettering and a price. This turns it into a specimen a visitor can actually use: one large line set in the product’s own typeface, which they can retype at any size, beside the full character inventory and a spec sheet assembled from the product’s own data.

Everything described here works on any site that installs the plugin. There is no key, nothing to activate, no trial, and no feature waiting behind one.

What you get

  • Specimen — One large editable line in the product’s own typeface, with a size slider, a picker for the lines a typeface is usually judged on, a field to type into and a Reset. The line and the field mirror each other, so whichever the visitor finds is the one that works.
  • Glyph map — The full character inventory, with a detail card showing one glyph at drawing size against the typeface’s own vertical metrics.
  • Spec sheet — The product’s description, then weights, styles, delivery formats and language support, assembled from the product’s own data. A font product’s Description tab is folded into this panel rather than shown twice.
  • Design screen — Every colour, radius and dimension in the showcase, set once for the whole catalogue and delivered as CSS custom properties.
  • Product box — Font upload (.woff, .woff2), delivery formats, credits and the specimen text, per product. Ship the family as one variable file or as a file per weight, as many as the family has. Weights and italics are not asked for — they are read off the uploaded font. Leave the specimen text empty and the product falls back to the shop’s default line, and then to the typeface’s own name.
  • WooCommerce — The showcase renders as a product tab, or anywhere via [rtm_font_showcase]. WooCommerce’s own add-to-cart form is left exactly where the theme put it.
  • Right-to-left — A reversible layout with no second stylesheet: every inset and alignment is a logical property, and the few that have no logical form carry a [dir="rtl"] rule beside the one they mirror. The bundled wpml-config.xml tells WPML which of a font product’s fields are writing and which are the typeface itself — the description is translated, the files, weights, metrics and credits are copied.

For add-on authors

Two extension points, both of them sockets rather than switches: Frontend\Renderer::register_part() hands a partial to the showcase in place of one of its own, and Admin\ProductMeta::register_card() adds a card to the product box. Neither grants anything; there is nothing here that is switched off.

RTM Font Showcase Pro is a separate plugin, distributed by Rometheme at store.rometheme.net, that uses those sockets to add a different specimen and some panels of its own. It is not required, nothing here is withheld from a site that does not have it, and this plugin does not check for it.

FAQ

How do I use RTM Font Showcase?

Log in to your WordPress dashboard and click RTM Font Showcase in the left-hand menu. Then edit a WooCommerce product, upload a font file in the Font Showcase box, and the product page grows a specimen tab.

Can I use the plugin without WooCommerce?

No. The showcase reads its data off a WooCommerce product, so WooCommerce has to be active.

Does it work with any theme?

Yes. The showcase renders as a WooCommerce product tab, or anywhere you place the [rtm_font_showcase] shortcode.

Does it send anything to an external service?

No. Every font file is served from your own media library, every stylesheet and script is served from this plugin’s own folder, and neither the product page nor the admin screens contact a third party.

How can I report security bugs?

You can report security bugs through the Patchstack Vulnerability Disclosure Program. The Patchstack team help validate, triage and handle any security vulnerabilities. Report a security vulnerability.
