REV Lite

Description

REV Lite is the free edition of REV (Real-time Email Validation) by Mail Cleaning Window (Primo Posto Co., Ltd., Japan). It checks the email fields of your forms while visitors type, before the form is sent:

• Syntax errors – missing or extra “@”, invalid characters. Full-width characters are converted automatically.
• Domain typos – e.g. “gmial.com” → suggests “gmail.com”, fixed with one click.
• Disposable addresses – blocks throw-away email services.
• Domains that cannot receive email – no MX record, parked domains.

It works on any form in the browser. In addition, it checks again on the server when the form is submitted (this also stops bots that skip JavaScript) for:

• MW WP Form (turn on the “REV Lite” validation rule for each email field)
• Snow Monkey Forms
• WPForms

See the results

The settings page shows how many errors were stopped before sending, how many typos visitors fixed with the suggestion, a breakdown by type of error and by month, and the most common typos.

Privacy by design

Only the domain part of the address (the part after “@”) is sent to the REV Lite service. The full email address never leaves the visitor’s browser or your server.

Free period

A usage key is free for one year from registration. When the free period ends, the service stops checking domains and lets every submission through, so your forms never break. The syntax check in the browser keeps working.

Paid edition

The paid edition (REV) also verifies each address one by one, including user names that do not exist, using the same usage key. It is a separate service; see the service page for details.

External services

This plugin connects to the REV Lite service operated by Primo Posto Co., Ltd. (Japan) to check email domains. Nothing is sent until you enter a usage key in Settings > Email Check (REV Lite).

• What is sent and when: when a visitor leaves an email field or submits a form, the browser sends the domain part of the address (after “@”), your usage key and the path of the page containing the form. When the server-side check is enabled, your server sends the same information when the form is submitted. When a visitor corrects or ignores a suggestion, an event with the domain(s) involved is sent. When an administrator opens the settings page, the plugin requests the aggregated counts for your usage key (at most once an hour) to show the results.
• Information recorded by the service: the domain, the check result, and technical information about the request (IP address, user agent, country and network provider estimated from the IP address, page address). The full email address is never sent or stored.
