Description
RankRush adds one box under the editor of every post, page and product:
- A Google preview that updates as you type.
- The SEO title, meta description and slug, with length meters.
- A focus keyword and related keywords.
- SEO checks: keyword placement, lengths, text length, internal links, image alt text.
- GEO checks: does the page open with a quotable answer, use question headings and an FAQ, give concrete numbers, cite sources, name your business, stay current.
- Instructions from your RankRush account for that page, when it has any.
Works next to Yoast SEO and Rank Math: a field you fill in replaces what they print; an empty field leaves them alone. Without an SEO plugin, RankRush prints the title tag and meta description itself.
Categories, tags and WooCommerce product categories get the same SEO title, meta description and keywords, on their edit screen. A RankRush revision of one waits there until you press Publish revision, and the version it replaced can be restored.
Every redirect on the site lives in one list under RankRush › Redirects.
AI crawler counts: RankRush counts the requests AI crawlers make to your pages (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google, Bing and others), per day, per page, and checks each against the address ranges the bot’s company publishes. Only the bot’s name, the page path, the day, the status code and that check are kept, for 90 days, in a table in your own database. No IP address and nothing about your human visitors is stored. See them under RankRush › AI crawlers: reads per day, per crawler and per page, and whether each crawler was really who it said.
RankRush.ai is made by Rankrush Ltd, the company behind https://rankrush.ai.
Everything above works on its own, without an account. A RankRush account (https://rankrush.ai) adds the other half: it measures whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews name your business, and writes the changes for your pages straight into this box.
All checks run in your browser. The plugin itself never sends anything anywhere.
External services
This plugin does not call any outside service itself. The checks run in the browser, and the plugin makes no requests of its own.
If you connect the site to a RankRush account (https://rankrush.ai), the RankRush app reads and writes this site through the WordPress REST API, using an Application Password you create for it in your WordPress profile:
- What it reads: your posts, pages, products, categories and tags, the RankRush fields on them, GET /wp-json/rankrush/v1/status (plugin version, WordPress version, which SEO plugin is active, the home, blog and shop page IDs), and GET /wp-json/rankrush/v1/crawlers (the AI crawler counts described above).
- What it writes: the RankRush fields (SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, related keywords, instructions), draft copies of pages for you to review and publish, redirects, and the list of AI crawlers to count with their published address ranges.
- When: only when you use RankRush on this site, for example when you send a revision or connect the site.
You can stop it at any time by revoking the Application Password under Users › Profile. Nothing is shared with RankRush if you never connect the site.

Installation
- Install RankRush from Plugins › Add New, or upload the plugin folder to /wp-content/plugins/.
- Activate it. The RankRush box appears under the editor of every post, page and product, and on category, tag and product category screens.
- Optional: to connect a RankRush account, open Profile › Connections in the RankRush app and add this site. WordPress asks you to approve RankRush, which creates the Application Password for it.
FAQ
-
Do I need a RankRush account?
-
No. The editor box, the SEO and GEO checks and the redirect manager work without one. An account adds AI visibility tracking and writes page changes for you.
-
Does it work with Yoast SEO or Rank Math?
-
Yes. A RankRush field you fill in replaces the title or description they print; an empty field leaves theirs alone. With no SEO plugin, RankRush prints the title tag and meta description itself.
-
What does GEO mean?
-
Generative engine optimisation: making a page easy for AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini to quote and cite. The GEO checks look for a direct answer at the top, question headings, an FAQ, concrete numbers, sources and your business name.
-
Does it send my content anywhere?
-
No. The checks run in your browser. Only a RankRush account you connect yourself can read or write the site, through an Application Password you can revoke.
-
Does it track my visitors?
-
No. The crawler counts only look at requests whose User-Agent names a known AI crawler, and keep the bot’s name, the page path, the day, the status code and whether the address matched the bot’s published ranges. No IP address, no query string and nothing about human visitors is stored. Pages served from a cache plugin or a CDN never reach WordPress and are not counted. A developer can switch the counting off with the rankrush_log_crawlers filter.
-
What happens to my redirects if I deactivate RankRush?
-
They stop being served while the plugin is off, and come back when you activate it again. They are kept in their own database table.

Changelog
0.4.3
- Plugin name: RankRush.ai – SEO and AI Visibility (by Rankrush Ltd, https://rankrush.ai).
- Fix: WordPress 6.2 no longer stops with a fatal error when a redirect is looked up (a function from 6.3 was used).
- Undoing a merge only restores and republishes the merged pages the user is allowed to edit; the others are left as they are and reported.
0.4.2
- RankRush › AI crawlers lists every page AI crawlers read, not only the 50 most-read: 50 a page, with a search on the address.
0.4.1
- RankRush › AI crawlers: a dashboard of the AI crawler counts in WordPress. Reads, pages read, crawlers and how many reads were verified; reads per day; a table per crawler (verified, not verified, not checked, last read); the most-read pages with the crawlers that read them and the reads that got an error. The same data a connected RankRush account reads.
0.4.0
- AI crawler counts: requests from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google, Bing and other AI crawlers are counted per day and page, and checked against the address ranges each company publishes. Kept for 90 days in your own database; no IP addresses, nothing about human visitors. A connected RankRush account reads them to show which pages AI reads.
- The plugin’s code is organised in one folder per feature. Nothing else changes.
0.3.3
- Ready for the WordPress.org directory: plugin name (RankRush – SEO and AI Visibility, text domain rankrush-seo-and-ai-visibility), readme (installation, FAQ, external services, screenshots), tested with WordPress 7.1.
- Request values are unslashed before they are sanitised, in four places.
- Redirect queries name their table with $wpdb’s %i placeholder, and the front-end redirect lookup is cached. Needs WordPress 6.2 or later.
- The “Redirect this page here” button now reads “Redirect 1 page here”, so every language can translate the count.
0.3.2
- Fix: publishing a RankRush copy no longer renames the original page. The RankRush box saved its fields onto whichever post was saved in the same request, so the copy’s slug landed on the original. The box now saves only the post (or category) its form belongs to, and a published revision always keeps the original’s address.
0.3.1
- RankRush has its own menu, after Settings. Redirects moved there from Tools (the old address still opens it).
- Categories, tags and product categories get the same RankRush box as posts: Google preview, length meters and the live SEO and GEO checks with Apply and Copy, run on the category description as you type. A category description is judged as one: 100 words or more is good, under 50 is thin.
- The WooCommerce shop page no longer shows checks for text it does not have. WooCommerce prints that page’s body, so only the SEO title, meta description, slug and keywords are checked, and the box says so.
0.3.0
- One list of every redirect on the site, under Tools › RankRush Redirects: search, hits, last hit, Delete, and Add for a redirect by hand. The 0.1.4 redirects move into it on their own.
- A changed address follows itself: when a published post, page, product, category, tag or product category gets a new slug, its old address redirects (301) to the new one.
- A redirect only answers where nothing is published, so it never covers a live page. Chains are followed (at most 5 steps) and loops are refused.
- Categories, tags and product categories: SEO title, meta description and keywords on their edit screen, printed on the archive page.
- RankRush revisions of a category, tag or product category: the new description, title and meta description wait on its edit screen with a preview, until Publish revision or Discard. Publishing is refused while a [blank] is still open, and Restore puts back the version from before.
- Term descriptions keep their headings, paragraphs and lists (the same HTML a post may hold).
- The WooCommerce shop page’s SEO title and description are used on the shop.
0.2.0
- Connect to RankRush in one click: RankRush opens WordPress’s own “Approve RankRush?” screen, so there is no Application Password to copy.
- New
GET /wp-json/rankrush/v1/status(logged-in editors only): the plugin version, the SEO plugin in use, and the front, posts and shop page ids, so RankRush can show whether the plugin is installed and up to date.
0.1.6
- A failing check now says what will work: the SEO title, slug and meta description to use, with Apply, and the H2, opening words and exact phrase for the content, with Copy. Built from the focus keyword, no AI call.
0.1.5
- The slug check follows a slug changed in WordPress’s own URL panel or permalink editor, live, in the block and the classic editor.
0.1.4
- Redirect competing pages to the page RankRush keeps (301), from the RankRush box or from RankRush. Each one goes back to draft with its content kept; Undo restores them.
0.1.3
- Publishing a RankRush revision copy puts it over the page it revises (same address); the copy goes to the trash, and RankRush picks it up as published.
- A revision copy cannot be published while a [blank] is still open.
- From RankRush lines can show as done, plus a tracking line once a revision is live.
0.1.2
- “Competing pages” line in From RankRush: your own pages that answer the same searches, with links (and an Edit link when the page is on this site).
0.1.1
- Keywords and RankRush instructions are no longer readable through the public REST API.
- Instruction details keep code examples and line breaks.
0.1.0
- First version: editor box, SEO and GEO checks, title and description output.
