How do I create a restaurant menu?

Click on Rest. Menus in your WordPress admin sidebar. Click on Add New to create your first entry and save the post.

You will see a window inside the post editor with two buttons, one to insert new Menu Items, and the other to add Section Headers.

Add the items you want and provide them with a title, picture, description, sizes and prices. Each item has three icons on the right: to hide in the front, to edit the item and to delete the item.

Group your items inserting Section headers, eg. Starters, Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast, Desserts, etc.

How do I display the menu on my website?

After saving your menu post create a new Page. Simply click on Pages -> Add New in your WordPress admin sidebar. Give your new page a title, for example, The Menu.

To display your menu in a simple list, use the shortcode with the id of the menu. You will find the shortcode in the table list of menus or inside the menu editor.

[erm_menu id=123]
How do I create a variable menu?

Click on Rest. Menus Week in your WordPress admin sidebar. Click on Add New to create your first entry and save the post.

Add different schedules and assign a menu to each one.

Reorder the schedules with drag and drop.

Insert the shortcode in some page/post.

The page will display the menu that satisfies the first schedule rule. If no rule is satisfied then no menu will be displayed.

You can create rules for different days and for different hours.

How do I manage currency character?

You don’t need to insert the currency on each price. Just go to Rest. Menus -> Settings, insert your currency and in with position you want it to display: before or after the price.

You can customize your template in the front end. Go to Rest. Menus -> Settings, insert your CSS and check Insert Custom CSS.

How do I edit Menu Items?

The plugin uses two types of custom posts, one for Menus and other for Menu Items. You can edit your Menu Item from inside de Menu Editor, but you can also edit it from the Menu Item post editor.

The Rest. Menu Items menu is hidden in your admin sidebar, but you can show it from the settings. Go to Rest. Menus -> Settings to unhide it.

Now you will see a new Rest. Menu Items menu in your admin sidebar. You can also edit you Menu Item from here, but you need to add your new items from the Menu Editor.

Simple & Awesome Plugin

Really happy about making my restaurant menu with this plugin. Does exactly what it says and it has a really easy learning curve. I’ve managed to have my menu running in no time, and I am not really good doing website development.

The only thing I couldn’t resolve, the developer did. I wrote him an email and very quickly I had my answer. What else can you ask? They offer a free version and a paid pro one.

So far, the best menu plugin for me.

Good plugin but I get conflicts (was: Too many conflicts)

This plugin (Pro version) is causing lots a couple of conflicts.

It kills Menu Social Icons: they do not display anymore if a menu is published (Check link arenabluetulum.com/restaurants-menu).

It kills two important features of Yoast SEO (Ryte monitoring, text link counter). (on test version of website on same server it works so might be something else, working on it with plugin developer)

It is impossible to use WPML to translate created menus (https://wpml.org/forums/topic/i-cannot-translate-food-menu-created-with-quick-restaurant-menu-pro/).

Worst of all, I have opened 3 different (in different days) support tickets in their support page since over a month ago (http://thingsforrestaurants.com/downloads/quick-restaurant-menu-pro/ | http://thingsforrestaurants.com/support/) and started one support thread in WordPress.org plugin page over 4 days ago, and I got not a single reply (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/quick-restaurant-menu-pro-breaks-menu-social-icons-and-yoast-text-link-counter/).

I bought this plugin because it has no unnecessary functions I do not need (eg. reservations) and for the positive reviews, so maybe it is just me to experience all those conflict, still the lack of support from you is not what one customer expect to get.

Never again will I buy your plugins, and I am sorry because I enjoy this plugin.

# EDIT: I have been contacted by plugin author and he is giving me support trying to fix things, so I changed my rating from 1 to 4 stars wishing to add one soon.

Lots of great things. Lots of irritating ones

I want to love this plugin. I actually bought the pro version because I misread it and thought that I could upload from a spreadsheet –that’s a future feature. My fault for not reading more closely.

I’m working on a restaurant that has four different menus: lunch, dinner, carryout, catering.

Some items have some of the same prices, others don’t.There’s a feature to add an existing menu item to a menu. But when you bring it up, there’s no way to differentiate items that have the same name. And there’s no way to add an existing item but change the price.

It’s good for what it is but there are tons of ways it could be better.

Flexible and Easy to Use

I’ve tried pretty much every single menu plugin on WordPress.org and this is the best by far.

One would think that restaurant menus are pretty simple, but that isn’t really the case. Sometimes there are multiple prices per item. Sometimes a menu sections will need a special header or footer. This plugin can handle all of these cases and more while still being easy to maintain for non-technical users.

In addition, the plugin author was very helpful with resolving a support issue.

Efficient and Flexible

I’ve just had a chance to work with this plugin for a short while and I’ve experimented with numerous menu plugins and have to say that this is exceptionally easy to work with, flexible, the only one that I’ve found that even attempts to handle multiple prices/types within a singe menu item without having to resort to a commerce plugin. Can’t wait for the pro version and would love to test any features that are being considered. I’m a restaurant professional and have to say that I’m surprised that this is a free plugin.
