Post Types Unlimited

Description

The Post Types Unlimited plugin is an easy way to add custom post types and custom taxonomies to your WordPress site (the right way). The plugin works with any theme and is easily translatable.

Add and manage an unlimited number of custom post types and taxonomies on your site via a simple and easy to use interface. The plugin uses the same WordPress core UI as adding standard posts so there is no extra “bloat” added to the admin. It also means that all your custom types and taxonomies will be saved via their own post types in the database so exporting them can be done right via the core WordPress function at Tools > Export and later imported via Tools > Import.

Advanced Settings for the Total Theme

When using this plugin in combination with our Total WordPress Theme you will have access to many extra settings. As you add your custom post types you can choose the post and archive layouts, image sizes, define a custom sidebar, archive grid columns, entry sections, post sections, dynamic template, single and archive page header title, entry and single meta sections and more. This plugin will take your Total theme to the next level!

Developer Friendly

This plugin is also developer friendly. You can hook into the “ptu_metaboxes” filter to add new meta options when creating/editing post types and taxonomies. So lets say you wanted to add an option so the user can select their “layout” when creating a new post type or taxonomy, you can do so like such:

add_filter( 'ptu_metaboxes', function( $metaboxes ) {
    $metaboxes[] = array(
        'id' => 'mytheme_ptu_metabox',
        'title' => esc_attr__( 'Theme Settings', 'text_domain' ),
        'screen' => array( 'ptu', 'ptu_tax' ),
        'context' => 'normal',
        'priority' => 'low',
        'fields' => array(
            array(
                'name' => esc_attr__( 'Layout', 'text_domain' ),
                'id' => 'YOUR_META_ID',
                'type' => 'select',
                'desc' => esc_attr__( 'Select your custom layout.', 'text_domain' ),
                'choices' => array(
                    '' => esc_attr__( 'Default', 'text_domain' ),
                    'left-sidebar' => esc_attr__( 'Left Sidebar', 'text_domain' ),
                    'right-sidebar' => esc_attr__( 'Right Sidebar', 'text_domain' ),
                    'full-width' => esc_attr__( 'Full Width', 'text_domain' ),
                ),
            ),
        )
    );
    return $metaboxes;
}, 50 );

Getting the value on the front-end is fairly simple all you need to do is get the ID for the saved post type or taxonomy and then pass it onto the get_post_meta function. The plugin saves the post type name and taxonomy name in a “_ptu_name” field so you can query the ID via this meta value. For performance I would recommend querying all saved custom post types and taxonomies on init and save them within a class variable tto be used later.
