Description
OnlyGrow Connections is the notification hub of your site. You set up, once, how your site reaches you — push notifications to your phone, Telegram messages and email — and then any plugin or theme can send through those channels without asking you for its own tokens or settings.
Why a hub
Today every plugin that wants to notify you asks for its own Telegram bot, its own push service or its own email settings. With OnlyGrow Connections the site owner configures each channel in one place, and plugins and themes just call one function to send a notification through whatever the owner turned on.
Channels
- Push notifications (ntfy) — instant notifications on your phone with the free, open-source ntfy app. Use the public ntfy.sh server or your own.
- Telegram — messages from your site in Telegram, through a bot you create and own with @BotFather. The chat ID is detected for you.
- Email (SMTP) — sends all WordPress email through the SMTP server you choose (Gmail, Outlook, Brevo, Amazon SES, Mailgun, your host…) so password resets, receipts and contact messages reach the inbox.
Built-in alerts
- When an email fails to send, get an alert through push and Telegram — the channel that still works tells you about the one that does not.
For developers
Any plugin or theme can send a notification through the channels the site owner configured:
onlygrow_connections_send( 'New order #123: $49', array( 'title' => 'My Store', 'priority' => 4 ) );
onlygrow_connections_channels() returns the channels that are ready to use.
Privacy and security
- Passwords and tokens are stored encrypted with your own site keys and are never shown again.
- No tracking, no ads. Nothing is sent anywhere until you configure and turn on a channel.
External services
This plugin connects to external services ONLY when you configure and enable the matching channel:
- Your SMTP server — to deliver your site’s email. It receives the email content and recipients. It is the server you enter in the settings, under that provider’s own terms.
- ntfy (https://ntfy.sh or the server you set) — to deliver push notifications. When the Push channel is on, the notification title, text and optional link are sent to the ntfy server each time a notification is sent (a test, an email-failure alert, or a notification sent by another plugin through this plugin). ntfy.sh terms: https://ntfy.sh/docs/terms/ — privacy: https://ntfy.sh/docs/privacy/
- Telegram Bot API (https://api.telegram.org) — to deliver Telegram messages and to detect your chat ID. When the Telegram channel is on, the message text is sent to Telegram each time a notification is sent, and your bot’s recent updates are read only when you press “Detect my chat”. Terms: https://telegram.org/tos — privacy: https://telegram.org/privacy
Installation
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Go to Settings OnlyGrow Connections.
- Choose a channel in the grid, follow its steps and send a test.
FAQ
-
Do I need an account anywhere?
-
For email, the account of your SMTP provider. For push, nothing: the ntfy app is free and needs no account. For Telegram, your own Telegram account to create the bot.
-
Is my ntfy topic private?
-
On the public ntfy.sh server, anyone who knows a topic can read it. The plugin suggests a long random topic; keep it secret, or use an access token or your own server.
-
What happens to my secrets if I change the keys in wp-config.php?
-
They can no longer be decrypted. Enter them again in the settings.
