Description
Requires wpNewsletterGermany Pro 2.2.0 or later on another website. This plugin is the signup form for wpNewsletterGermany, the newsletter plugin by maennchen1.de. It does not manage a newsletter itself. It places a signup form on this website and sends the email address to wpNewsletterGermany Pro running on another WordPress website, where the subscription is confirmed by email (double opt-in) and managed.
Use it if you run several websites but one newsletter: a blog, a product page or a landing page can collect subscribers for the newsletter on your main website.
- Block “Newsletter signup” and shortcode
[ngsignup_form] - Follows the design of your theme; in the block you can choose the arrangement (as space allows, in one row, one below the other) and the border, background and corners of the input fields
- Email field, with your own texts and consent wording
- Optional fields: salutation, first name, last name, street, postcode, city, each off, optional or required; wpNewsletterGermany stores them for new subscribers
- Double opt-in is always on; the consent wording is stored in the consent log of wpNewsletterGermany
- The answer is always the same, so the form does not reveal who is already subscribed
- Protection without external services and without CAPTCHA: hidden field, signed time stamp, minimum time, limits per address and in total
- Optional: limit per IP address (only a check value is stored for one hour), computing task in the browser, DNS check of the domain, own blocklist, origin check
- Suggested text for your privacy policy, personal data export and erasure in WordPress
About wpNewsletterGermany
wpNewsletterGermany sends newsletters from your own WordPress website. Subscribers stay in your own database, mail goes out over your own server, with double opt-in and a consent log.
- Free edition in the plugin directory: maennchen1 Newsletter Germany
- Pro and Enterprise with the REST interface that this signup form needs: wpnewslettergermany.maennchen1.de (in German)
- Manual: doc.maennchen1.de/wpnewslettergermany
Requirements
On the website that manages your newsletter:
- wpNewsletterGermany Pro or Enterprise, version 2.2.0 or later
- The module “REST interface” switched on
- A signup key: under Newsletter Settings Modules REST interface, section “Additional keys”, create a key with only the permission “Subscribe” and the groups for this form
The free edition of wpNewsletterGermany in the plugin directory does not include the REST interface.
External services
This plugin connects to one website only: the one you enter under Settings Newsletter signup. It is your own website with wpNewsletterGermany Pro, not a service of maennchen1.de.
- When a visitor submits the form, the email address, any further fields the visitor filled in (name, address) and the consent wording are sent to that website so that it can send the confirmation email and store the subscription.
- When you save the settings or click “Check connection”, and at most every twelve hours afterwards, the plugin asks that website for its version and whether the key is valid. No visitor data is sent.
- If you switch on the optional DNS check, the server of this website asks its DNS resolver whether the domain of the submitted address has a mail server (MX or A record). Only the domain is looked up, not the address.
Nothing is sent before you have entered the address and the key. The privacy policy of the receiving website applies; as its operator you know it.

No. The free edition maennchen1 Newsletter Germany does not include the REST interface, which this plugin needs. You need wpNewsletterGermany Pro or Enterprise 2.2.0 or later on the receiving website.
-
Can I use the main key of the REST interface?
-
No. The main key would allow looking up and changing subscribers. The plugin only accepts a key that may do nothing but subscribe.
-
Where do I see the signups?
-

-
The form does not appear
-
Visitors only see the form once address and key are entered and the connection check succeeded. Administrators see a note instead.
-
The connection check fails although the address is right
-
WordPress only connects to public addresses. If both websites run on the same server or in a private network, allow the host with the WordPress filter
http_request_host_is_external.
