Meow Lightbox

Description

Lightbox built for photographers, by photographers 🙂 If you want to see how it performs, have a look at one of my post on my website, for example this one: Best Abandoned Places in Japan. Or with a gallery, in that case, any page on Haikyo.org. And here is the official page: Meow Lightbox.

IMPORTANT. By default, the selector is set on ‘.entry-content’. If your theme doesn’t use it, you need to update the plugin options. The plugin will then look for images surrounded by links and apply the lightbox. When you insert images in your posts, make sure the “Link To” is set to “Media File” or to “Attachment Page”. For more information, please check the official page.

KEY FEATURES.
– Responsive Layouts. Looks great on mobile, tablets and bigger screens.
– Responsive Images. Image resolution itself will adapt to the screen and device.
– Display Image / EXIF information. Shutter speed, aperture, camera, lens.

PRO. Pre-loading and display a map for images with GPS coordinates.

GALLERY. We believe that choice of the gallery system depends on you. We however recommend you to use the Meow Gallery.

BETA, PLEASE HELP US. This plugin is fairly recent. So we need your feedbacks to improve it. We will keep it simple, nice and powerful. We however don’t want to bloat it with too many useless or heavy options. If it’s not working for you, please don’t get angry, because we need your help. Talk to us, we are here, and willing to help 🙂

This is a beautiful lightbox

There are so many lightboxes out there, tried more than a handful, what i wanted was a way to display the exif info of the photo on the lightbox and meow lightbox was an exact fit to my requirements.

Works a treat and photos show up on a lightbox view with the exif with neat icons next to them, and the pro version also shows a map which is a very nice addition.

I now use the lightbox with the meow gallery plugin and a perfect way to build your portfolio, especially for photographers wanting to showcase their images.

Here is my live site with the plugins in action – http://www.vividscapes.com

Great plugin!

Just started using this lightbox with the meow gallery plugin and WP/LR sync. The images load fast and look clean. I like being able to choose the metadata to display underneath the image.

Beautiful and simple

It works really well and looks very beautifull!
The only flaw is, that it “overwrites” links.

For example, I have three galleries shown on the home page with an example/featured image each. I want the image to open the page with the gallery, instead it opens the lightbox. At least it really looks beautiful 🙂

Would be grate to add a way to exclude image tags nested in “a* tags.

Great for more than photos…

Been using this plugin for about a year. I am not a photographer – but a graphic artist. I was looking for a plugin that would present my artwork, a title, and a description nicely. Those are difficult to come by when you are looking for a certain full page look rather than a traditional lightbox. Meow fills that niche for me quite well though. My artwork has no exif data like a digital photo does, but the plugin compensates nicely for that fact. Clean, simple, working… all i could hope for and more. So – not just for photos per se, if what you are wanting to display is digital art.

The other thing I wanted to say here was that even without a gallery plugin – like just using THE_LOOP for generating my thumbnail array for my gallery – this plugin still works great when you click on the thumbs. This is my favorite part about this – no need for another plugin if you know how to set up a loop in your pages and less clutter in my CMS. =D 5 thumbs up Meow.

Does exactly what it should

Like Jordy’s other plugins, Meow Lightbox is “lightweight”, follows the rules (ie won’t conflict with anything else) is well thought out, and works well.
