Machexa Lite

Description

Machexa Lite is a free tool for quickly converting basic CNC machining cutting conditions:

  • Milling, Turning, Drilling
  • Cutting speed (vc) to spindle speed (rpm) conversion, in both directions
  • Machining time per part and per batch
  • Material removal rate (Q)
  • Switch between millimeters and inches (SFM, in/min, in³/min) with automatic conversion of all values and labels
  • Drill tip length geometry
  • Available in English, Czech and German, with a language switch inside the calculator

All calculations run on your own server through your site’s WordPress REST API. The plugin does not connect to any external service and does not store any personal data, except a short-lived hashed form of the visitor’s IP address used for rate limiting (see FAQ).

This is the free (Lite) edition. It does not include a material database, the Detailed calculation mode, calculation history, or export features. Those are available in the paid Machexa PRO edition, see cncprogrammingpro.com/machexa-pro-machining.

Calculated values are indicative only and do not replace a qualified technologist’s assessment.

Installation

  1. Upload and activate the plugin.
  2. Add the shortcode [machexa_lite] to any page or post.
  3. Done. The language follows your site’s language (Polylang) or the WordPress locale, and can also be switched directly inside the calculator.

FAQ

Does this plugin advertise on my site’s front end?

No, not by default. A small optional link to the paid PRO edition can be shown below the calculator, but it is switched off out of the box, you can enable it under Settings Machexa Lite in your WordPress admin if you want it.

Does the plugin store any visitor data?

No tracking and no accounts. The plugin sets one small first-party cookie that remembers the selected language (1 year, no personal data). For anti-abuse rate limiting, a hashed (MD5) form of the visitor’s IP address is used as the key of a WordPress transient that expires after 1 minute; the plain IP address is not stored. Nothing is sent to external services.

The calculator shows an “invalid request” error on a cached page.

The calculator uses a WordPress REST nonce generated when the page is rendered. If a page cache keeps the page longer than the nonce lifetime (12 to 24 hours), the nonce expires. Set your cache lifetime for pages with the [machexa_lite] shortcode below 12 hours, or exclude them from caching.

How accurate are the results?

The plugin uses simplified kinematics (spindle speed / feed rate / time), without a material database and without cutting-force calculations. Results are indicative only.

Changelog

1.0.3

  • Privacy: readme now documents the hashed IP address used for rate limiting.
  • REST API error messages are now in English and translatable.
  • Internal code comments cleaned up.

1.0.2

  • New: millimeter / inch switch in the calculator header. Inputs, labels and results are converted; calculations still run in metric units on the server, so switching back and forth never changes your values.
  • Guideline 10 compliance: the link to the paid PRO edition on the frontend is now switched off by default and can be enabled by the site owner under Settings Machexa Lite (previously always shown).
  • Removed a duplicate PRO note that appeared twice on the same screen.

1.0.1

  • Fix: input fields were not recalculating automatically (incorrectly nested quotes in an oninput HTML attribute).
  • Fix: REST API namespace renamed to cnclite/v1 to avoid a conflict with the paid PRO edition when both plugins are installed on the same site.
  • Fix: asset (CSS/JS) versioning now uses file modification time instead of a static version string, preventing browsers from serving a stale cached copy of a script after a file update.

1.0

  • Initial public release.
