Justified Gallery

Description

This simple plugin brings the native WordPress gallery to a higher level by adding a nice justified image grid and a pretty lightbox.
Just install and activate the plugin. That’s all.

Create galleries as before, but enjoy the responsive layout, beautiful justified image grid and handy lightbox.

I love the native WordPress gallery. It’s easy to use and as intuitive as possible. Everything would be perfect if it were not for the column layout and lack of lightbox. Many themes display the WordPress gallery in an ugly and “no eye-catching” way. This was my inspiration to write this simple plugin.

Features

  • Easy to use. You can use the native WordPress gallery just as you did before
  • Beautiful, justified layout thanks to Justified Gallery by Miro
  • Support of image descriptions. Descriptions can also be turned off on a settings page
  • Lightbox. The gallery can be viewed with popular PhotoSwipe by Dmitry Semenov
  • Responsiveness. The gallery adapts to various screen width options. It works perfectly on mobile devices
  • High quality images. The URL of images is tailored to the needs in an intelligent way. Smaller images will be download on smaller screens, larger images on larger screens
  • Justify your images without cropping them
  • Configurable. You can set up a width of the gap between images and height of rows

Reviews

Simple but really effective

Does two jobs only – a neat justified gallery and a lightbox for built-in galleries – and does them really, really well. Especially love how clean and attractive the lightbox is on all screen sizes, and impressed at how well the photos are laid out in justified rows like on Google Photos; that must be quite a programming feat.

For bonus points, I reported a problem less than 24 hours ago and the plugin has already been fixed. Responsive in more ways than one. 🙂

Simple, does what it says on the tin. Perfect.

I really, really love this plugin. For me, this kind of simple and effective behaviour should be in WordPress core. And it’s even more beautiful because the settings are modest and minimal too. It doesn’t vomit upsell-soup over my clients’ admin like all the other similar plugins I’ve tried.

If you want a clean, simple, effective, responsive gallery that’ll look beautiful on any theme, this is for you 🙂

Great gallery

Unlike the “big” gallery plugins JG uses the native WordPress infrastructure, just adding missing features to it.
Pros:
>Responsive
>The best ligthbox
>Beautiful layout
Cons:
>If the JS does not load the gallery will no appear
>If something is delaying the load of the JS, the gallery will also be delayed

mouse over

really, really good stuff!
Only the mouse over is really annoying.
Any hint, how to change this in somethign rather common?
