Makes local copies of all the linked images in a post, adding them as gallery attachments.
This plugin is baszed on the work done in the “Add Linked Images to Gallery” plugin by http://www.bbqiguana.com/
- Download the “Import External Images” zip file.
- Extract the files to your WordPress plugins directory.
- Activate the plugin via the WordPress Plugins tab.
- How does this plugin work?
The plugin examines the HTML source of your post when you save it, inspecting each IMG tag, and processing them according to the options you have selected.
Under the default settings, it will find IMG tags with links to images on other web sites and copy those images to your web site, updating the IMG src to point to your copy.
- Does it work with MultiSite?
Yes! It was developed and built ( and is used everyday ) at PhotographyBlogSites.com – a multisite install.
- What if i don’t want to import images from a third party image hosting site?
You can make it ignore any domain you want on the settings page, in case you work with a CDN or photo hosting site and want to keep those images where they are.
This plugin is awesome. thanks
Imports images OK but can’t get it to link to the various size options (medium, large, etc) since the class parameter and wordpress identifier within the tag is missing – eg. class=”wp-image-4198 size-full”. This means the sizing is not optimised for various browsers as I understand it as it can only load the greatest size. I expect all the other reviewers just didn’t notice. You check theproblem another way – select edit image and then try to change it’s size. You can’t.
This new(er) plugin might work better than this one.
And if you are trying to import external images from Squarespace, see https://wordpress.org/support/topic/has-anyone-gotten-this-to-work-with-squarespace/ for info how to extend the new plugin to get that to work.
This plugin was great but now keep importing same picture. I’m not sure for soon upgrade .
if could solve the issue please reply to this topic.
This plugin is a great idea and is a much needed plugin. But it doesn’t work. I’ve tried numerous threads on this forum of other people also struggling to get this plugin to work but as with them, I have had no success.
The only way this currently works is going into each individual post and clicking on the Import external images checkbox. But this is on each individual post, not bulk. Would be great to get an update on this plugin.
I am trying already more than 10 times to import images with this plugin from blogger external blog. Before with Blogger importer I could import posts and links to images. Now I try this and it imports around 10 images then continues to import the same photos, not importing the others. So now in my media library tones of the same photos. Its several days I asked for an answer in support and no answer.
