This plugin is the simplest way to add it to a WordPress site:
- Paste your API key, save, done — the widget appears on every page automatically.
- A built-in connection check confirms the key works the moment you save.
- No code, no theme edits, works with caching plugins.
- Remove the key at any time to take the widget off your site.
Your widget configuration and AI settings are fully managed by the Horus Desk team — your assigned account specialist takes care of everything.
Advanced
The widget exposes a small JavaScript API on window.horusDesk — useful for wiring your own buttons or FAQ links:
horusDesk.open()/horusDesk.close()— open or close the chat window. Example: a header “Chat with us” button withonclick="horusDesk.open()".horusDesk.ask( 'Do you offer same-day service?' )— opens the chat and sends the question as if the visitor typed it. Great for deep-linking FAQs to answers.horusDesk.setLanguage( 'ar' )/horusDesk.getLanguage()— switch or read the widget language (the widget normally follows your site’s language on its own).horusDesk.isOpen()— check whether the chat is currently open.horusDesk.destroy()— remove the widget from the page entirely.
The API becomes available once the widget has loaded — calls triggered by visitor interaction (button clicks and the like) always work.
External Services
This plugin connects to the Horus Desk chat platform to verify your key and run the chat widget:
- When you save the settings, your API key is sent to the Horus Desk config service (
https://ctr.horusdesk.com/functions/widget-config) so the plugin can confirm the key works. - On every page, the plugin loads the Horus Desk chat widget script from
https://ctr.horusdesk.com/widget.js. The widget then carries your visitors’ chat messages to the Horus Desk platform so the AI can reply.
The plugin sends nothing else and tracks nothing.

Installation
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins Add New Upload Plugin and choose the plugin ZIP file.
- Activate the plugin.
- Go to Settings Horus Desk Chat.
- Paste the API key provided by your account specialist and click Save.
That’s it — the chat widget is live on every page of your site.

How do I get my API key?

Reach out to your assigned account specialist. Once you’ve installed the plugin, they will supply your business key and complete all the configuration for you — there’s nothing else you need to do.

The widget isn’t showing. What should I check?

- Make sure the API key is saved in Settings Horus Desk Chat and shows “Connected”.
- If the banner says the key is valid but the chat is switched off, your Horus Desk team has paused it — contact your account specialist.

Can I use the widget on just some pages?

The plugin adds the widget site-wide, which is what most sites want. Developers can control loading with the
horus-desk-chat_widget_urlfilter.
