• Results arrive in the same checklist as competitor imports, so nothing is saved until you tick it.

• New: outbound references. A “Find references” button in the post editor asks your AI provider for authoritative external sources worth citing, and offers them for you to add one at a time.
• Every suggested link is fetched and checked before you see it, so invented or dead URLs are discarded rather than offered. Suggestions must also use an anchor phrase that already exists in your post, so a citation never rewrites your sentence.
• You control which domains are acceptable with an allow list and a block list, both covering subdomains, and your own site is never suggested.
• Nothing is inserted automatically — outbound links send authority away from your site, so each one is your decision. rel=”noopener” is always applied, with optional nofollow and open-in-new-tab.

• The Link Decay Watchdog no longer runs two full site scans back to back. It now reuses the scans already cached from your normal use, only rebuilds what is genuinely missing, and splits its weekly check across two scheduled runs a few minutes apart — so it can never be the cause of an unexplained load spike on shared hosting.
• Turning the watchdog off, or deactivating the plugin, now cancels any follow-up check that was already queued.

• Fixed Fix Orphans halting with repeated connection errors. Each orphan was loading the whole site index before it could be fixed, which on a large site runs long enough for the host to cut the connection off mid-request.
• New setting: Post statuses to link. Published only remains the default, so LinkWise never edits a post you are still working on, and you can now switch on drafts, pending, private or scheduled content if you want it included. Links always point at published pages regardless, so a link can never lead somewhere a visitor cannot see.

It was rescanning the entire site inside a single request before it began, which on a big site runs for minutes and gets cut off by the host. Different wordings of the same thing — “design agency dublin”, “design agency in dublin”, “dublin design agencies” — are now recognised as one topic instead of three keywords, so a page is only flagged when it is genuinely targeting several different subjects.
• Replaced the per-row warning badge with a “Pages targeting several topics” panel that names the page, groups its keywords by topic, and shows the variants, so you can see at a glance whether it needs splitting or is perfectly fine.

• New: Target Keywords. Keep a list of the phrases each page should own, and LinkWise suggests that page whenever the phrase appears elsewhere on your site — using the phrase itself as the anchor text.

LinkWise reads the page and extracts the phrases it is built around, weighted by whether they appear in the title, headings, image alt text or body. Results come as a checklist with select-all and bulk import; nothing is stored until you choose it.
• Keywords with no assigned page are flagged as content gaps, and pages claiming a lot of keywords are flagged so each page keeps a clear focus.
• Keyword extraction works without an API key. Pro adds AI ranking, which keeps only the phrases that matter commercially for your business and suggests which of your pages should own each one.

• Broken-link repair now builds its work list once at the start of a run instead of re-reading — and rewriting — the whole site report before every batch. This was the last operation still doing that, and it was the heaviest part of a large repair job.

Resource safety release — no new features, but bulk jobs are far kinder to your server.
* Fixed the main cause of high CPU and memory: bulk jobs were re-reading (and sometimes rebuilding) the whole site’s link report before every small batch of edits. The work list is now built once at the start of a run, so a job on a large site does a few megabytes of database work instead of hundreds.
* Link density trimming no longer rewrites the whole cached report after every batch.
* Bulk edits now write directly to the database instead of triggering a full post save on every page. Your SEO, cache and social plugins no longer fire hundreds of times during a run, which was the main cause of high CPU and memory use.
* Batch size is chosen automatically to suit your hosting — nothing to configure.
* LinkWise rests between batches so it can never take over a shared server, and stops cleanly if it runs low on memory or time.
* Only one LinkWise job runs at a time; a second tab or a double-click can no longer stack jobs. Interrupted jobs resume where they left off.
* When the server is busy, LinkWise waits progressively longer instead of retrying every 10 seconds, and pauses rather than piling on.
* Closing the browser tab now ends the work instead of leaving it running.
* Bulk edits no longer create post revisions, so the database stays lean.

For developers: each batch fires a single gbl_bulk_content_updated action with the affected post IDs instead of per-post save hooks. Direct database writes can be disabled with add_filter( 'gbl_use_direct_write', '__return_false' ); if your site depends on save_post firing. Pacing can be tuned with the gbl_bulk_batch_size and gbl_cpu_duty filters.
