GhostParse

Description

Most email plugins only change how WordPress sends email. GhostParse is about the email that comes back: customer replies, questions about orders, and email to your support address, received into WordPress and matched to the order it’s about. Sending from your own domain is included, so the replies you send are delivered.

Autopilot for WooCommerce: customer email answered for you

  • Customer emails are read by AI, matched to their WooCommerce order, and answered from the order’s real details: status, items, shipping, and tracking from WooCommerce Shipment Tracking, Advanced Shipment Tracking or YITH Order Tracking.
  • For each kind of email (where’s my order, returns, changes, cancellations, product questions, everything else) you choose: answer automatically, draft a reply in the Inbox for you to check and send, or leave it for you.
  • It never changes an order: changes, cancellations and returns become a To do on the order. Order details are only used when the sender is shown to be the order’s customer, and it never invents tracking, dates or refunds.

Customer replies come back to the order

  • Order emails to customers get a reply address made for that order. When the customer replies, the reply is added to the order as a note, the order is flagged “Customer replied” in the orders list, and you’re emailed.
  • Email customer from the order page, in your WooCommerce email style, with saved messages and placeholders like {first_name} and {order_number}. It’s noted on the order, and the customer’s reply comes back to it.
  • Works with orders stored as posts and with WooCommerce’s order tables (HPOS).

Receive email into WordPress

  • Click Connect and email to your GhostParse addresses (all of them, or only some, like support@yourdomain.com) arrives in WordPress, signed and checked.
  • Inbox: received email in the admin, with attachments in the Media Library if you want, and a reply box that sends a threaded reply.
  • Post by email: email to an address you choose, from someone with an account who can write posts, becomes a post (draft, for review, or published). By default only from senders that pass DMARC.
  • For developers: the ghostparse_email_received action gets every email as parsed data: from, to, subject, text, html, the reply without the quoted thread, attachments, and the fields your GhostParse parsers extract.

Sending from your own domain

  • Email WordPress sends (password resets, WooCommerce orders, contact forms, and your replies) can go out through GhostParse from your verified domain, DKIM-signed and with bounces handled. It works through wp_mail(), so you don’t change other plugins.
  • Your verified address is always the From address; another plugin’s From address (a contact form’s visitor, say) becomes the Reply-To.

You need a GhostParse account: ghostparse.com. GhostParse doesn’t keep your email: it passes it to WordPress and forgets it.

External services

This plugin is a client for GhostParse (https://ghostparse.com), an email service run by WILDYE LIMITED. It needs a GhostParse account and connects only to the GhostParse server address set on its settings page (https://ghostparse.com by default). It sends nothing until you add an API key, and each feature below only runs when you turn it on.

What is sent to GhostParse, and when:

  • Checking your API key (when you open the settings page with a key saved): the API key, to show which account it belongs to.
  • Sending email (when “Send all of this site’s email through GhostParse” is on, each time WordPress sends an email, and when you send a test email): the email’s sender, recipients, subject, text and HTML body, headers you set, and attachments. GhostParse delivers it from your domain.
  • Receiving email (when you click Connect receiving): your site’s webhook address (https://yoursite/wp-json/ghostparse/v1/webhook), the site’s name and the optional address filter, so GhostParse can deliver your incoming email to the site. Disconnecting or deactivating the plugin sends a request to remove it. Received email comes from GhostParse to your site; it isn’t fetched by the plugin.
  • Replies from the Inbox and Email customer (when you click Send reply or Send email): the reply’s recipient, subject and text, as for sending email.
  • WooCommerce reply addresses (when “Replies to order emails come back to the order” is on, the first time a customer email is sent for an order): your reply address and the order’s ID, to make a signed reply address for that order.
  • Autopilot (only when you turn on the Autopilot, for each customer email that arrives in the Inbox): the sender’s email address and name, the email’s subject and text, and, when the sender is shown to be the order’s customer, the order’s details (order number, dates, status, payment status, items, shipping method, shipping name and address, tracking numbers and links, notes already sent to the customer, and the order’s view link), plus your shop’s name and address, sign-off and shop information. GhostParse passes this to Anthropic’s Claude AI model to sort the email and write a reply, returns the reply to your site and keeps none of it.

GhostParse: Terms and Conditions · Privacy Policy · Data Processing Agreement and sub-processors.

The Autopilot’s AI is provided to GhostParse by Anthropic (https://www.anthropic.com), a GhostParse sub-processor; your site doesn’t connect to Anthropic. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, this data isn’t used to train its models: Anthropic Commercial Terms of Service · Anthropic Privacy Policy.

Installation

  1. Install and activate the plugin, then go to Settings GhostParse.
  2. In the GhostParse dashboard, create an API key with the Send email and Zapier, Make & n8n permissions, and paste it in.
  3. Sending: set the From address (one of your sending addresses in GhostParse), tick Send all of this site’s email through GhostParse, save, and click Send a test email to me.
  4. Receiving: paste the webhook signing secret from the GhostParse dashboard’s Inbound webhook page, choose what to do with email (Inbox, post by email), save, and click Connect receiving.

FAQ

Do I still need an SMTP plugin?

No. This plugin replaces how WordPress sends email. Turn off other SMTP or mail plugins to avoid confusion.

Why does my contact form’s email come from my address?

GhostParse only sends from addresses on your verified domain, as mailbox providers expect. The visitor’s address is set as the Reply-To, so replying reaches them.

Can I use the received email in my own code?

Yes:

add_action('ghostparse_email_received', function ($email, $event) {
    // $email['from']['address'], $email['subject'], $email['reply_text'], $email['attachments']…
}, 10, 2);

Other events (bounces and complaints about email you sent) arrive on the ghostparse_event action.

How do WooCommerce replies find their order?

Each customer order email gets a Reply-To like shop+o1234.k3x9…@yourdomain.com, signed by GhostParse. Only a reply to that exact address is added to order 1234; anything else goes to the Inbox. Receiving must be connected, and the “Replies go to” address must be one of your GhostParse addresses that’s delivered to the site.

How does the Autopilot work, and what does it send to GhostParse?

When a customer email arrives in the Inbox, the plugin finds its order (a reply to one of the order’s emails, an order number in the subject, or the customer’s latest order) and reads it here in WordPress: status, payment, items, shipping address, tracking, and notes the customer has already been sent. It sends GhostParse the email and those facts; GhostParse asks Claude (Anthropic’s AI model) what kind of email it is and writes the reply, and keeps nothing. Drafts are kept in your Inbox.

Where does the Autopilot get tracking numbers?

From WooCommerce Shipment Tracking, Advanced Shipment Tracking and YITH Order Tracking, and from order notes sent to the customer. Developers can add others with the ghostparse_autopilot_order_facts filter.

Can the Autopilot send someone else’s order details?

No. Order details are only used when the sender replied to one of that order’s own emails, or wrote from the order’s billing address and passed DMARC (a From line alone is easy to fake). Replies go to the address the email came from. Anyone else is asked to write from the address they ordered with, and their email is kept as a draft for you.

What does the Autopilot need?

A GhostParse account with AI turned on (Parsers page), receiving connected, the Inbox on, and sending on with a From address. Each email it reads uses one AI extraction from your GhostParse plan.

What happens if I deactivate the plugin?

It tells GhostParse to stop sending email to the site. Uninstalling also deletes its settings and activity log. Email in the Inbox stays until you delete it.
