Get Widget ID

As the name suggests the Get Widget ID Plugin allows you to display the widget id in the widget form.

One can also get the widget id by inspecting the html but I find that rather tedious. So I wrote this short snippet.

No more inspecting elements and messing with html. Simply install this plugin and you are good to go.

It is based on this Tutorial

  • ID inside a Text Widget

This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

  1. Unzip archive and upload the entire folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. Now visit the Widget section and click on any active widget. You will find the Widget ID.

The FAQ section will be updated in next release.
