Gallery Share: Social Lightbox For Every Image

Separately share each Image on your website! Individually. Independently.

Each of your photos can be shared in a Facebook style lightbox that everybody instantly recognizes.

Hell, some users will think they are on Facebook while browsing on your site. How cool is that? And how many comments and shares can you get with that?

How Does It Work?

You can also browse this test gallery here:

You will notice that this unique URL will take you to that particular photo in the gallery. (wait for the site to load first, after this the lightbox is instantly displayed with the facebook lightbox effect.)

Does the plugin work with NextGEN galleries?

Yes, it does – there is an extra step you need to take for that. Go to the NextGEN Options page in WordPress (Gallery->Options), go to the ‘Effects’ tab, select ‘None’ and save.

Sometimes the image that is displayed on Facebook is different than the one I shared. Why is that?

You may have another plugin on your blog that generates Facebook tags and interferes with Gallery Share. Try disabling temporarily the other plugin and see if the behavior has been corrected.
Also, this may happen with images from NextGEN galleries. In both cases, the shared link will be the correct one.

Why do I see two lightboxes when I click on an image?

This means that you have another plugin that generates lightboxes for images, or that you have NextGEN and it wasn’t configured according to the instructions found in Gallery Share’s settings page.

Sends wrong image

I tested it by sharing an image to a Facebook page for my website. When the box popped up, it showed the image I intended to share. When I checked Facebook, it was using the featured image for the page instead of the selected image. If you want people to share your featured images, this may be worthwhile. But I use the featured image for related posts, and I keep it at a certain size. To advertise a page on Facebook, I want to use a larger, more informative image that is customized for social media.
