GA4 Support Cookie Banner

Description

This plugin places the GA4 Support cookie banner on your site. The banner asks visitors which
cookies they allow, stores that choice, restores it on their next visit, and passes it to Google
Consent Mode v2 so that Google Analytics, Google Ads and other Google tags only fire with
permission.

GA4 Support is an independent service by Attributions (the Netherlands). It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

A GA4 Support account is required. The banner itself is included in every plan. All settings —
texts, colours, categories, languages, which cookies are listed — live in your GA4 Support
dashboard, not in WordPress. This plugin only connects your site to that account, so there is
never a second place that disagrees with the first.

What the plugin does

  • Loads the banner as early as possible, before other tags run. This matters: Google Consent Mode
needs a default state that is set before any Google tag loads.
  • Provides the shortcode [sst_cookies] to show your cookie list on a cookie policy page. The
table stays in sync with the inventory in your dashboard; you never update it by hand.

What the plugin deliberately does not do

  • It does not duplicate your banner settings. Those are in the dashboard.
  • It does not add a “change cookie settings” button. The banner provides that itself.
  • It does not collect, store or send anything from your WordPress installation.

External services

This plugin loads two scripts from GA4 Support (Attributions, the Netherlands) into your
visitors’ browsers. Using it means their browsers contact that service.

  1. The banner script, loaded on every page from
https://dashboard.ga4support.nl/api/cookie-banner/cb.js. It receives your account ID so it
can load your banner configuration. The banner stores the visitor’s choice in a cookie on your
own domain, and records that a choice was made — the choice itself, the moment, and a random
identifier with no personal data in it — so that you can demonstrate consent was given. It
does not send the page content, the visitor’s identity, or anything from your WordPress
    installation.

  2. The cookie list script, loaded only on pages where you place the [sst_cookies]
shortcode, from https://dashboard.ga4support.nl/api/cookie-banner/ci.js. It reads the public
cookie inventory for your account and renders it as a table. It sets no cookies and reads none.

FAQ

Do I need a GA4 Support account?

Yes. The banner loads its configuration from your account; without an account ID nothing is
loaded on your site.

Where do I change the texts and colours?

In your GA4 Support dashboard. Keeping them there means your banner looks the same everywhere you
use it, including on sites that are not WordPress.

The banner does not appear

Check that the account ID is filled in under Settings Cookie Banner. If it is, the most likely
cause is a caching or optimisation plugin that defers or combines scripts: the banner is loaded
very early on purpose, and deferring it breaks Consent Mode. Exclude
dashboard.ga4support.nl from script optimisation.

Can I show the cookie list in another language?

Yes: [sst_cookies lang="en"]. Dutch, English and German are available. Without the attribute the
table follows the language of the page.
