Description

DemoSlot Embed shows free demo versions of online slots on your site. The demos come from the official sources of the game studios, through the free DemoSlot partner network.

Demo Game block – search the catalogue by game or studio in the editor and pick a game.
Game Grid block – games of one studio, of one category, random games, or your own list, with optional studio and category filters for visitors. Columns 1–8 or “Auto”, and Wide or Full width on themes that offer it.
Game Catalogue block – the whole catalogue in one place, with a search field, Provider, Theme and Sort by above it and a “Load more” button: [demoslot_catalogue].
Your own real-money button – add your link in the settings and a “Play for real” button appears under every single game; a block can use its own link or hide it.
Shortcodes for the classic editor and page builders such as Elementor, Divi and WPBakery: [demoslot_game game="pragmatic-play/sweet-bonanza"] and [demoslot_games studio="hacksaw-gaming" count="8" columns="4"].
Pasted links – paste a demoslot.com slot page address such as https://www.demoslot.com/free-slots/sweet-bonanza/ into an Embed block or on its own line in the classic editor, and it becomes the same player as the Demo Game block. A /de/, /pt/, /es/, /th/ or /id/ address opens the game in that language.
Automatic games – optional: every post of the types you choose gets the game its title names (“Sweet Bonanza Review” gets Sweet Bonanza), at the top, after the first paragraph, or before or after the first H2 heading; posts without a matching game get nothing or the 8 newest games. Each post can choose its own game or switch it off, and the Automatic games screen (DemoSlot Embed Automatic games) finds the games first and lists what each post gets before you turn it on.
Click-to-play – a thumbnail and a Play button; the game loads only after the click, inline or in a pop-up, with a fullscreen button.
Fast pages – the catalogue is copied to your site and refreshed daily; thumbnails can be stored on your site as WebP.
Casino games too – besides slots the catalogue holds table games (roulette, blackjack, baccarat, poker, video poker), crash, instant-win, scratch, bingo and keno games, each with its game type.
schema.org VideoGame markup for each embedded game (optional), with the game type as genre.
Games that stop working are hidden automatically after the next daily refresh.
Moving from SlotsLaunch – Tools Migrate from SlotsLaunch finds the SlotsLaunch games, grids and iframes of your site, finds the same games in the DemoSlot catalogue, shows a dry run you can review, and replaces them with DemoSlot shortcodes, with a backup and a rollback. Game pages of the SlotsLaunch plugin keep their addresses after you switch it off. WP-CLI: wp demoslot-embed slotslaunch.

Shortcode attributes

game – the game’s slug, or studio/game.
lang – en, de, pt, es, th or id; empty uses the setting.
currency – a three-letter code such as EUR; empty uses the setting.
real_url, real_text – the link and text of the real-money button for this game; empty uses the settings. real="hide" shows no button.
align – wide or full (where the theme supports it).

filters – none, studio, category or studio,category.
align – wide or full.

lang, currency, align – as above.

Visitors search by game or studio name and pick a provider, a theme and the sort; the page is not reloaded. The Theme list appears when the catalogue has at least two themes; for now themes come with the games that have a page on demoslot.com.

External services

This plugin is an interface to the DemoSlot partner network, a service of DemoSlot (https://www.demoslot.com/). It does not work without a DemoSlot partner key, which you get for free by applying on demoslot.com.

When – only after you save a key: when you save it (a connection check), once a day (the catalogue refresh), when you press “Sync now”, in the background for thumbnails when “Local images” is on, and during a SlotsLaunch migration dry run that you start (Tools Migrate from SlotsLaunch, or WP-CLI).
What is sent – your partner key in a request header, and the plugin’s version, its edition and your site address in the user agent (for example DemoSlotEmbed/0.7.0 (wporg); https://example.com/). A migration dry run also sends the names, studios and types of the SlotsLaunch games found on your site, to find the same DemoSlot games. Nothing about your visitors is sent by the plugin.
What your visitors’ browsers load – the game thumbnails from demoslot.com (unless “Local images” serves them from your site), and, only after a visitor clicks Play, the DemoSlot player page, which loads the studio’s demo game. Those pages are run by DemoSlot and the studios. The player’s address carries the address of your page (without its query) after a #, which the browser never sends over the network; the DemoSlot player page reads it and passes it to DemoSlot with the start of the game.
What DemoSlot does with your page addresses – once a day DemoSlot opens a few of the pages where your games were played and looks for the credit line, so that your partner account can show where it is found. With the edition from WordPress.org this is only reported to you and never stops your games. With the direct edition from demoslot.com, where the line is part of the plugin, a site whose pages lack it is warned by email and its games pause until the line is back.
Updates – a copy installed from demoslot.com instead of WordPress.org (the “direct” edition) also asks DemoSlot for its updates, at most twice a day.

SlotsLaunch API (optional, migration only). Only when you press “Look up SlotsLaunch ids” on the migration screen (or set SLOTSLAUNCH_TOKEN for WP-CLI), the plugin asks the SlotsLaunch API (https://slotslaunch.com/api/games) for the names of SlotsLaunch game ids found on your site that have no name there. It sends those ids, the SlotsLaunch token you give for that lookup (or the one your SlotsLaunch plugin saved, if you tick that box), your site’s domain as Origin, and with an API secret a signature. The token is used for that lookup only and never stored. Backups of the SlotsLaunch migration. Before the migration replaces a field, it keeps the field’s original in its backup table, byte for byte, so a rollback restores it exactly. A SlotsLaunch iframe pasted into a page often carries your SlotsLaunch token in its address; that token stays in the backup and in its download (Tools Migrate from SlotsLaunch Backups Download, or wp demoslot-embed slotslaunch backup), and the Backups block says so. Keep the downloaded file private, and delete the backup once you no longer need a rollback. Deleting the plugin deletes its backups.

Credit line

The plugin can print the line “Free demo by DemoSlot” with a link to demoslot.com under every player and every grid, in your page’s language. It is off until you choose to show it: once DemoSlot has accepted your key, Settings DemoSlot Embed asks you once, with “Yes, show the link” and “No, thanks”. You can change your answer later under “Credit link”, and make the link nofollow. The games work the same either way.

Installation

Install and activate the plugin.
Apply for a free partner key on demoslot.com and list your site’s domain.
Paste the key under Settings DemoSlot Embed and save. The first catalogue sync starts at once.
Add a “Demo Game” or “Game Grid” block, or one of the shortcodes.

FAQ

Where do I get the API key?: In your DemoSlot partner account: sign in at demoslot.com and open the DemoSlot Embed tab. No account yet? Apply there for free; the key appears once the application is approved. Paste it in Settings DemoSlot Embed; the “Getting started” steps at the top of that page show what is done and what comes next.
How do I add a game to a page?: In the block editor press + and choose Demo Game (one game) or Game Grid (several), or paste the shortcode [demoslot_game game="sweet-bonanza"] or [demoslot_games studio="pragmatic-play" count="8"]. The settings page has both examples with a Copy button.
Why does the player look the same on every theme?: The player and the grid carry the DemoSlot look (navy card, yellow Play, the credit line under the game) so visitors recognise the free demos on any site. The styles ship with the plugin, and no web fonts are loaded.
The player says the domain is not allowed: The DemoSlot player loads only on the domains listed in your partner account. Add the domain the page is on (without “www.”) in your DemoSlot account.
A game is missing from my page: It is not available at the moment (the studio removed it or its demo stopped working), so the plugin hides it from visitors. Editors see a short note in its place.
Can I add my own “Play for real” link?: Yes. In Settings DemoSlot Embed, “Real-money link”, enter your link (for example your casino affiliate link). Every single game then shows a “Play for real” button under the player that opens your link in a new tab, marked as a sponsored link. In a Demo Game block (panel “Real-money button”) or in the shortcode you can give one game its own link or hide the button. Grids and the catalogue do not show it.
How do I make the games use the whole width?: Select the block and choose “Wide width” or “Full width” in its toolbar (the theme decides how wide that is), and set Columns to “Auto” to fit as many games as the width allows. In a shortcode, add align="full" and columns="auto".
Does the plugin set cookies?: No. The studio’s game may use what it needs inside its own frame after a visitor clicks Play.

Settings: a new key that DemoSlot refuses or cannot check no longer replaces the key that works, empties the catalogue copy or starts a sync. “Getting started” and the key field say what happened, and a key is shown as accepted only once DemoSlot accepted it. An accepted new key keeps the games shown while it syncs. The first sync with another key is always a full one, which hides the games that key does not see. The Connection figure says when DemoSlot could not be reached.
Catalogue sync: when DemoSlot cannot be reached or answers with a server error, the sync waits (5, 15, 30, then 50 minutes) and goes on from where it stopped instead of starting again. The settings page shows the error and the time of the next try. A sync that read far fewer games than DemoSlot lists, or got an answer without paging or without a total, ends without hiding any game. No request runs past the time of a sync step.
An update that asks for one full sync keeps asking until such a sync has ended.
Game grid: visitor filters take only the grid’s own studios and categories, and only requests from your own pages are cached, so random filter values no longer fill the database. The filter lists cover the whole catalogue. “Show all games” shows the games of the page again.
Blocks: the links to the settings open in a new tab, outside the editor canvas, and the game search list scrolls with the arrow keys.
A wrong DSEMB_API_BASE in wp-config.php now stops requests with a notice instead of using demoslot.com.
Multisite: deactivating the plugin for the whole network removes its scheduled events on every site.
Migrate from SlotsLaunch: a dry run no longer stalls on very long names, broken characters, large grids or a DemoSlot error; each step keeps to its time, and an error shows “Try again”. A step that stopped while writing is checked and counted once. Long WP-CLI runs keep their lock, also while they wait for DemoSlot. The backup and dry-run downloads, the totals and the WP-CLI output work in batches instead of filling the memory on large sites. A step that fails again and again ends with “Try again” after 15 minutes at the latest. Studios and games from DemoSlot are checked before they are written, mixed forms of one shortcode are left for you to replace by hand, and only the Elementor caches of the written posts are cleared.
Migration backups: the Backups block and wp demoslot-embed slotslaunch backup say when a backup holds the SlotsLaunch token of pasted iframes. Keep such a file private.
