CookieAz is the WordPress plugin built specifically for Chile’s Ley 21.719 on the protection of personal data.
It’s not a generic plugin translated from another regulation: it was built from the ground up around the terminology, deadlines, and rights that Chilean law requires, without concepts that don’t apply in this country. Many businesses already need to comply due to contractual requirements from clients or partners (banks, retail, public tenders), regardless of the law’s full enforcement date.

Everything described above is included at no cost. We’re preparing a Pro version with more complete evidentiary reports, a data-subject request (ARCOP) management panel, full banner customization, and multi-site licenses. This plugin connects to the following third-party services:

ipify.org — used to detect your own server’s public IP address, as the first step in detecting the hosting country for the international transfers section of the generated Data Processing Policy. It only runs when the site administrator clicks the “Auto-detect” button in step 1 of the legal Wizard — never on page load, never in the background, never on a schedule. No personal or visitor data is sent: only a request from the server itself asking for its own public IP.

ipapi.co — used to geolocate the public IP obtained from ipify.org, in order to suggest the hosting country. It runs immediately after the ipify.org request described above, as part of the same button click — it is not opt-in via a separate setting, but it never fires without that explicit administrator action. Only the server’s own public IP is sent, no visitor or personal data.

Supabase (CookieAz’s own backend) — optional, anonymous usage-data ping. It only runs if you explicitly enable the “Share anonymous usage data with CookieAz” option in Settings (disabled by default). Once a week (and immediately after enabling it), your site URL, plugin/WordPress/PHP version, and whether you used the legal Wizard are sent, so the plugin author can see which sites have CookieAz installed. No visitor data or legal/company configuration is ever sent.

Installation
- Go to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress admin panel
- Search for “CookieAz” and install the plugin
- Activate the plugin
- Go to the new CookieAz tab in your admin panel and follow the legal Wizard (8 steps): company details, legal pages, security, data origin, decisions, legitimate interest, services, and summary
- Choose whether you want CookieAz to automatically create the Cookie Policy and Data Processing Policy pages, use pages you already have, or insert them via shortcode
- Save, and you’re done — the banner is now active on your site

Yes. If your site uses cookies that aren’t strictly necessary for it to function (analytics, advertising, social media), you need to inform visitors and ask for their consent before activating them. This is one of the core obligations of Ley 21.719.

Possibly. Ley 21.719 requires non-essential cookies to stay blocked until the visitor decides, not just a notice while cookies keep firing anyway. Check whether your current banner actually blocks scripts before consent, or only displays a message — CookieAz implements that real blocking.

Yes, optionally. If you enable it, consent signals are sent correctly to Google Analytics and Google Ads, without you having to configure anything yourself in Google’s tools.

Do I need to know about law or coding to use it?

No. The legal Wizard asks you simple questions about your company (name, tax ID, what data you process) and generates the documents and the banner for you.

What happens to Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other scripts I already have installed?

Sanctions range from warnings for minor infractions to fines of up to 20,000 UTM (Chilean tax units) in the most serious cases, plus being listed in the National Registry of Sanctions and Compliance for 5 years.
