Quality design & usability

Using the drag & drop recipe builder, you can create your recipes quickly and without limitations. Add ingredients, directions—and then add a gallery, nutrition facts, cooking times and much more.

Google-friendly

Cooked automatically includes semantic structure and schema.org microdata into each and every recipe you publish. This allows Google to display your recipes across a variety of device sizes and platforms.

Many premium features already included

Most recipe plugins require that you purchase a PRO version for features like nutrition facts, galleries, powerful searching, timers, etc. The standard version of Cooked includes all of these. Here’s what you get out of the box:

  • Drag & drop ingredients and directions.
  • SEO Optimized – Google Structured Data and Schema.org support.
  • Beautiful grid-based masonry recipe lists.
  • Prep & Cooking Times
  • Photo Galleries
  • Nutrition Facts
  • Difficulty Levels
  • Powerful recipe search with a text search, categories & sorting options.
  • Author template to list recipes by a single author.

  • Very developer-friendly with loads of hooks & filters.
  • Servings switcher to adjust ingredient amounts.
  • And more to come…

Of course, if you want even more, you can always check out the PRO version of Cooked. It adds features like ratings & favorites, recipe submissions, and so much more.

Having issues with the plugin?

Be sure to check the Cooked Documentation for guides and documentation. If you’re still having issues, create a new support topic and let me know what’s going on. I’m happy to help! Please don’t post a bad review without discussing here first, I really appreciate it!

I purchased Cooked on CodeCanyon.net, is this the same thing?

This version is not the same plugin. It has been completely rebuilt from the ground up and has now completely replaced the original plugin. For more information on Cooked and Cooked Pro, check out https://cooked.pro. There is a migration assistant as well for those using the original plugin. See the documentation here: http://docs.cooked.pro/migration/

Reviews

Simply Amazing!

I have reviewed all free recipe plugins. Cooked is by far the best one, premium features for free, beautiful user-friendly interface and well-constructed structure, that’s just amazing, thumbs up! The only thing missing for me is to an”Add Recipe” button to Post/Page Edit screens where we can easily embed recipes to post by selecting from a recipes list instead of pasting the recipe shortcode 🙂

Thanks for this great plugin!

Great Support

I have translated the plugin into German. Some words it didn’t translate, but that was my mistake because I entered something wrong in the settings.
I wrote to support and got an answer within 5-10 minutes. I was also helped very well.
The design is modern and you can adjust a lot.
I can only recommend it.

MacDilles

Super Easy to Use

Pros:
– Clean. Probably the cleanest and easiest recipe plugin to use. No need to embed your recipes in posts, etc…
– Hands down the sexiest template design. If you’ve seen the author’s past work, he is one hell of a designer. Unless you’re into bullet points and MS Word feel…
– Best User Experience. The plugin is built with VueJS, giving it a modern, app-like feel. You can drag/drop, slide… anything!
– Many interactive goodies. The recipe page is very interactive on the viewer’s side. Set timers, check the ingredients one-by-one, etc… Again, thanks to the VueJS framework.
– Surprisingly inexpensive! All features are included in a single price.
– Cooked Pro supports AMP! The author doesn’t mention AMP anywhere, but it’s included in the paid plugin! AMP is great for SEO.

Cons:
I feel that several functionalities are still in BETA-mode. Author has spend a significant amount of work on a top-notch experience, however, certain basic functionalities like setting the image size, Cooked to Cooked Pro upgrade issues, and no place to add WYSIWYG code before the recipe, still persist. On the plus-note, I’ve been in contact with the Author and he’s been quick to respond and fix bugs.

Why a 5-star rating
Despite lacking several practical functionalities, I’ve tested all recipe plugins and this plugin truly triumphs them all. If the author can take his time and work with the community, he will be lightyears ahead of everyone.

I work in a network of top food bloggers. If the author is open, I’m willing to work with him on testing/optimizing the functionality.

Good

I just wish there were more documentation about customization.

I wanted to give more stars but…

I really wanted to give this plugin more stars but I just cannot. While the functionality is varied and it is easy to use it is also incomplete and not well thought out.

You need to add custom CSS to customize the font colors and background colors as it inherits the font colors from the parent but the background is white. If you are using a dark theme like I am the font doesn’t show up.

The browse and search boxes size and move around the screen funny and I have to go digging in the css to figure out how to fix it.

The biggest issues though and the reason for the 2 star review are:

1) Their support is absolutely abysmal. I paid for their pro version and expect to have my support emails to them responded to within 24 hours (industry standard). It has been 3 days and still not a peep.

2) There is a major hole in functionality. You cannot by default show a list of categories on the home/recipe page nor can you show one on the category pages. According to the forum you have to write your hook for this. This makes it much harder to design an intuitive user flow for site users.

The things I do like and the reason I paid the money to buy it is that:

Nutritional info is available, recipes are easy to add

There is user profile functionality (though I have yet to enable it and I am praying that I can drip content with it).
