Chat

Description

Start communicating! Bring live, two-way chat to your site.
Host your own live chat sessions, interact with your visitors and boost your
sales without needing any third party javascript or other code – works great
with BuddyPress and Multisite too.

You can use Chat to…

  • Add a site-wide chat window in the bottom corner of your site
  • Add chat to any blog post or page
  • Answer support questions
  • Promote web services or products
  • Increase the ability for members of your social network to connect

Get Started Quickly

Separate chat windows are added to any post or page in WordPress through a new button added to the built-in editor.

Integrate With Your Theme

The Chat plugin gives you full control over the colors and sizes of your chats. Get exactly the look and feel you want!

Chat can add live chat to your site, for free!

However, if you’d like to create group chats in BuddyPress, have private messaging between users, archive chats, or use social login credentials you can always take the next step with Chat Pro.

No Response

I am not upgrading to the premium plug-in because I have no trust in the way WPMU deals with the support on this plug-in. I have asked for PHP7 support a long time (even proposed the fix) and still nothing happened with it. Very weird for a professional party.

Nice but unusable

While testing with a couple of user I observed slow down of server due to – I suppose – many AJAX requests.

Waste of resources

This plugin will flood your website with ajax requests every second making it unusable unless you own a powerful server. Screenshots here and here.

Tested in a VPS with only 1 user connected, imagine what would happen on an active website with a few users connected at the same time. I didn’t have this problem with other chat plugins tested in the exact same environment.

It will eventually take your website down, eat all your hosting resources and it will cause problems with your hosting provider.

It’s a self-inflicted DDoS.
