External services

This plugin connects to the CereTax API, operated by CereTax, Inc., to calculate and report sales tax and to validate addresses. It requires a CereTax account and API key, and it sends nothing until you enter an API key and enable CereTax in WooCommerce > Settings > CereTax. Requests go to the production hosts (calc.prod.ceretax.net, av.prod.ceretax.net), or to the test hosts (calc.cert.ceretax.net, av.cert.ceretax.net) when the environment setting is not Production.

  • Tax calculation (calc.*.ceretax.net/sale): Sent when tax is calculated for the cart and checkout, when an order is placed, paid or recalculated in the admin, when a subscription renews, and when an order is refunded. The request contains the store’s address (the ship-from address); the customer’s shipping or billing address (the ship-to address); and each line item’s product or variation ID, title, quantity, price and discount. It also includes shipping charges, the order ID, and the customer’s WordPress user ID (a random number for guests). No customer name, email address or phone number is sent.
  • Transaction reversal (calc.*.ceretax.net/reverse): Sent when an order is cancelled. The request contains the CereTax transaction ID for that order.
  • Address validation (av.*.ceretax.net/validate): Sent when the address validation setting is enabled and a customer enters an address at checkout, and when the store address is saved in the admin. The request contains the street address, city, state, postal code and country.
  • API key check (calc.*.ceretax.net/test): Sent when the CereTax settings are saved, to confirm that the API key is valid. Only the API key is sent.
