This plugin connects to the CampusCopilot service (campuscopilot.in) to power the AI admission chatbot.

What the service does

CampusCopilot is an AI chatbot service built for colleges and universities. The plugin loads the chat widget from CampusCopilot’s servers and routes student questions to the AI, which answers using the college’s own training data.

Data sent and when

API key — sent to https://campuscopilot.in/api/widget-config when the WordPress admin saves settings, to verify the key and fetch the bot configuration (bot name, colors, welcome message).
Student messages — sent to https://campuscopilot.in when a visitor types a question in the chat widget. This includes the text of the question and an anonymous session ID. No personally identifiable information is sent unless the student voluntarily provides it (e.g. name, phone, email) during the lead capture flow.
Widget script — the file https://campuscopilot.in/static/widget.js is loaded on every front-end page of your site to render the chat widget.

Account required

A CampusCopilot account and API key are required to use this plugin. Register free at campuscopilot.in/register.

Installation

Upload the plugin files to /wp-content/plugins/campuscopilot-chatbot/, or install via Plugins Add New and search for “CampusCopilot”.
Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress.
Go to Settings CampusCopilot and enter your API key.
- Don’t have an account? Register free at campuscopilot.in.
Click Save & Activate — your chatbot is now live on every page of your website.

FAQ

Where do I get my API key?: Register at campuscopilot.in. After registering, find your API key on the Dashboard Embed page.
Will the chatbot work before I subscribe to a paid plan?: Yes — each visitor can ask up to 3 questions for free. After that, the widget shows a prompt to contact your institution. This lets you test the full experience before committing.
How do I train the chatbot with my college’s information?: Log in to your CampusCopilot dashboard and go to Training Data. Upload PDFs, Word documents, TXT files, or paste FAQs and URLs. The AI will learn from whatever you provide.
Does it capture student leads?: Yes. The chatbot naturally collects the student’s name, phone number, email, stream, and course interest during the conversation. All leads appear in your Dashboard Leads page.
Will it slow down my website?: No. The widget script loads asynchronously from our CDN and is less than 30 KB. It does not block page rendering.
Does it work on mobile?: Yes — the chat widget is fully responsive and works on phones and tablets.
Can I change the chatbot’s name and colors?: Yes — customise bot name, colors, and greeting message from your CampusCopilot dashboard.
Which languages does it support?: The AI responds in the same language the student writes in. It works well with English and most major Indian languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, etc.).
Is student data safe?: All data is stored securely in India. Each college’s data is completely isolated — no data is shared between institutions.
