Barrava – The Website Toolbar

Description

Give visitors a clear next step with a floating website toolbar for WordPress. Bring call-to-action (CTA) buttons, navigation links and visitor feedback together in one sticky bottom bar.

Add a demo button, link to your contact page or collect feedback without placing a separate widget around each action. Keep useful shortcuts together while visitors browse your website.

Install Barrava without editing your WordPress theme or pasting JavaScript. A separate Barrava account and a published toolbar for your website domain are required. Choose your modules, colours and display settings in Barrava Admin. Available modules depend on your Barrava plan.

Floating CTA buttons, navigation and feedback

  • Call-to-action buttons: link visitors to your demo, contact, booking or other destination pages.
  • Website navigation: add useful links, a home shortcut and a scroll-to-top button.
  • Visitor feedback: collect quick sentiment and written feedback through the toolbar.
  • Floating or docked appearance: choose a floating action bar or a docked bar at the bottom of the page.
  • Brand styling: choose your colours, theme and module order in Barrava Admin.
  • Desktop and mobile display: choose which device types show your toolbar and individual modules.

The toolbar keeps the actions you choose within reach as visitors scroll. Configure and preview it in Barrava Admin, then publish when you are ready.

Easy to install and manage

Open Barrava in WordPress’s main left-hand menu to:

  • Show or pause Barrava on your website with one switch.
  • Open Barrava Admin to update your toolbar, review results and publish changes.
  • Choose Check my website for a clear setup result and a useful next step.
  • Open your website to see how the toolbar looks to visitors.

The setup page follows Barrava Admin’s visual style, with separate results for WordPress connection, Published toolbar and Website check. Technical help and Copy support details are available in a closed Advanced section when you need them.

Colours, modules, display settings, analytics and billing stay at https://app.barrava.com. Sign in there using your normal Barrava login. This plugin does not embed the Barrava dashboard or store login credentials, API keys or account IDs.

The WordPress connector is free to use. A separate Barrava account is required; hosted service availability and pricing are governed by your Barrava account and plan. See https://www.barrava.com for current service information. There are no paid unlocks for code bundled in this plugin.

See Barrava or create your account, publish your toolbar, then enable it in WordPress.

External services and data

The widget is off until a site administrator enables it. Enabling immediately loads https://app.barrava.com/Barrava.js on public pages. There is no visitor consent gate in this plugin.

The hosted widget requests published configuration for the visitor’s hostname from https://app.barrava.com/api/runtime/config. It can load feature helpers from https://app.barrava.com/widget-modules/ and send usage and interaction requests to Barrava, including /api/runtime/events and /api/events. Feedback submissions and heart interactions are sent through /api/runtime/events.

The hosted runtime uses local storage for cached configuration, a visitor identifier and interaction preferences. It uses session storage for a session identifier, swipe state and experiment conversion state. Depending on enabled features, requests may include page URLs (including query strings), referrers, device information, identifiers, analytics events and submitted feedback. Configured fonts may load from fonts.googleapis.com and Google’s font hosts. Chat, search, cookie-preference controls and analytics integrations can interact with your existing providers. Those providers have their own data practices.

The WordPress plugin itself adds no separate telemetry or visitor cookie. Opening its settings page or activating it does not contact Barrava. Check my website is an administrator-initiated request from WordPress to the fixed Barrava configuration endpoint using this website’s public hostname. It stores local results and versions, not the returned configuration. Its temporary browser probe runs only for an authorised administrator session and reports safe state codes, script count and a query-free observed page location to the WordPress settings tab.

Installation

  1. In WordPress, open Plugins Add New Plugin Upload Plugin and select the Barrava ZIP.
  2. Activate the plugin, then open Barrava in WordPress’s main left-hand menu. Look for the Barrava B icon.
  3. Select Open Barrava Admin. Create or sign in to your account, check your website domain and publish your toolbar when it is ready.
  4. Return to Barrava, switch on Show Barrava on this website and select Save changes. Your latest published toolbar can appear straight away.
  5. Select Check my website and allow the new tab to open. Return to the settings page for your result and next step.
  6. Select View website to check how it looks. Also take a look in a private browser window and on your phone.

Use one installation method. If someone previously added Barrava through Google Tag Manager, your theme or another plugin, ask them to remove that older installation and clear your website cache.

Moving from an earlier barra-the-website-toolbar installation? This release has a new plugin folder and is a separate WordPress plugin. Note whether the old plugin is switched on, then deactivate and delete it before installing this release. The old uninstall routine removes its local settings and check results. Upload and activate this ZIP, switch Barrava on again if needed, and save. Your hosted Barrava account and published toolbar are unaffected. Keep only one plugin active.

FAQ

Can I add floating CTA buttons to WordPress?

Yes. Add call-to-action buttons in Barrava Admin, choose their text and destination links, then publish your toolbar. The WordPress plugin loads the published toolbar for your website. A booking button links to your booking page; it does not add a booking system to WordPress.

Does the toolbar work on desktop and mobile?

Yes. Barrava supports desktop, tablet and mobile display settings for the toolbar and its modules. Choose which device types show each action in Barrava Admin. Review the published toolbar on your own pages and devices to check the layout.

Where do I change colours and modules?

Select Open Barrava Admin in the Barrava menu. Design your toolbar, choose its actions and publish changes there. Analytics and billing also remain at app.barrava.com.

Do I need an API key or account ID?

No. Barrava uses the public page hostname to find the published configuration. The plugin has no production domain override.

What does Check my website tell me?

It shows whether Barrava is switched on in WordPress, whether a published toolbar is available for your website, and whether Barrava loaded during the homepage check. The results include a next step if anything needs attention. Take a quick look at the website too, including on your phone; one check cannot confirm every page or visitor’s experience.

Why does it say Needs setup in Barrava?

Open Barrava Admin, check that its website domain matches the one shown in WordPress, then publish your toolbar. The check cannot tell whether the domain needs correcting or the toolbar still needs publishing.

Why does it say Could not confirm?

Allow the new browser tab to open, then try again. Select View website to see whether Barrava is showing. If it is missing, clear your website cache and check once more. If you still need help, open Advanced and choose Copy support details for your message to Barrava support. A check that cannot finish is not a confirmed installation failure.

Why does it say Hidden on this page?

Your published display settings are keeping Barrava hidden on that page or device. Review them in Barrava Admin if you expected the toolbar to appear.

Do I need to publish again when I switch Barrava on?

No, if this website already has a published toolbar, switching Barrava on can show that version straight away. Publish in Barrava Admin when you want to make new changes visible.

What happens when I pause, deactivate or uninstall?

Switching Barrava off or deactivating the plugin stops it from loading on newly generated pages. Clear your website cache as well: saved copies of your pages may still show it. Deactivation keeps your settings. Deleting the plugin removes its local settings and support details, but leaves your Barrava account and toolbar unchanged. It does not remove Barrava added through another installation method.

Does this release support Multisite or page exclusions?

This release targets single-site WordPress installations. Multisite administration, page exclusions, WooCommerce-specific controls, staging overrides and automatic account selection are outside v1.

How do I get support?

Contact support@barrava.com. In the Barrava menu, open Advanced and choose Copy support details. Review the details before sharing them; they include software versions, your public website address, the page checked, result codes and check times. The main screen shows the check time in your local time; the support report keeps UTC times for troubleshooting.
