AWT Cart Recovery for WooCommerce

Description

AWT Cart Recovery emails shoppers who leave without ordering, with a link that restores their exact cart and takes them straight back to checkout. Everything in this plugin works in the free version: there are no usage caps, no trial periods, and no license gates.

How it captures abandoned carts

  • The moment a guest enters their email at checkout – before they finish paying
  • Immediately for logged-in customers, the moment they add an item to their cart, using their account email

What happens next

  • One recovery email goes out automatically after a delay you set, with a link that restores their exact cart – same products, same variations, same quantities – and drops them straight into checkout
  • Once a customer completes their order, the cron leaves them alone – no chasing people who already bought

What you can see

  • A widget right on your WordPress Dashboard showing pending and recovered cart counts
  • A full, paginated list of every abandoned cart, its contents, and whether the recovery email actually went out
  • A settings page to change the delay and the email’s subject/body

Accurate delivery status

A cart is only marked “Recovery Email Sent” after WordPress confirms the email was accepted for sending. If your site’s email setup has a problem, the Abandoned Carts list shows that email as not sent, so you can see and fix it instead of assuming it worked.

FAQ

Does this work for guest checkout?

Yes. The moment a guest customer types their email into the checkout form, their cart is captured – they don’t need an account and don’t need to complete the order for it to be tracked.

Does it capture carts before checkout, for customers who never get that far?

For logged-in customers, yes – it captures the moment they add something to their cart, using their account email, no checkout interaction needed. For anonymous guests, capture happens at the checkout email field, since there’s no way to email someone whose address you don’t have yet – that’s a limit of email-based recovery in general, not specific to this plugin.

Does it support variable products (size, color, etc.)?

Yes. The exact variation a customer selected is captured and restored precisely when they click the recovery link.

Why isn’t my recovery email arriving?

If your Abandoned Carts list shows “Recovery Email Sent” with a timestamp but the email never arrives (check spam/promotions folders first), the issue is almost always your hosting’s email setup, not this plugin – it’s the same requirement every WooCommerce order-confirmation email depends on. Many hosts restrict PHP’s default mail function. The standard fix: install a free SMTP plugin like WP Mail SMTP and connect it to a real mail provider (many, including Brevo, have a permanent free tier). This plugin calls WordPress’s standard wp_mail() function, so any working SMTP setup will carry its emails automatically.

My site gets very little traffic – will the recovery email be delayed?

WordPress’s default cron only checks for due tasks when a page loads on your site, so a very low-traffic site can see delayed sends. For reliable timing, set up a real server-side cron job (most hosts, including Hostinger, offer this) to hit yoursite.com/wp-cron.php every 15 minutes.

Does this slow down my checkout page?

No. Capture happens via a lightweight background request; it doesn’t block or delay the checkout form itself.
