AppYourShop

Description

AppYourShop helps WooCommerce merchants launch and manage a branded mobile shopping app for their store. It gives customers a convenient mobile experience while allowing the merchant to continue managing products, customers, orders, coupons, shipping, and payments from WooCommerce.

This plugin connects your WooCommerce store with AppYourShop. It is needed so your mobile app can stay aligned with your store and so activity from the app can flow back to WooCommerce.

With AppYourShop, merchants can offer a mobile app that reflects their real WooCommerce store instead of managing a separate product catalog or order workflow. Store data remains centered in WooCommerce, while AppYourShop provides the mobile commerce experience.

The plugin helps with:

  • Publishing WooCommerce catalog information to the mobile app.
  • Keeping customers, carts, coupons, and orders connected between the app and the store.
  • Supporting store settings such as payment methods and shipping methods.
  • Helping multilingual stores share translated catalog content when WPML is used.
  • Giving administrators a simple connection and synchronization experience inside WordPress.
  • Helping AppYourShop support diagnose connection or synchronization problems when needed.

An active AppYourShop account is required. After the store is connected, the merchant can use WooCommerce as the main source of store management while AppYourShop powers the mobile storefront.

Requirements

  • WordPress 5.6 or newer.
  • PHP 8.0 or newer.
  • WooCommerce installed and active.
  • An AppYourShop tenant and connection configuration string.

WPML is optional. When WPML is active, the plugin uses it for language and translation data.

Configuration

The settings page expects a configuration string generated by AppYourShop.

After saving the configuration, the plugin registers the store URL and an installation-specific signed-request secret with AppYourShop. The plugin does not send WordPress usernames, passwords, or Application Passwords to AppYourShop.

When a customer signs in through the mobile app, WordPress verifies the customer’s password and issues a customer-only API session. AppYourShop stores the session credentials on its server so the app can access that customer’s cart, profile, orders, and reviews. WordPress issues a rotating refresh credential to renew the API session when it expires. The credential expires after 15 days without renewal, is stored as a hash in WordPress, and is invalidated by a password change. Social sign-in requires the customer to link the same WordPress store account by signing in with its email and password once. These credentials do not log the customer into the WordPress website or grant administrator access.

The mobile app can also submit a product review without an account when reviews are open for that product, WordPress permits comments from guests, and WooCommerce does not require a verified buyer. The plugin checks these settings for each submission. Guest reviews use the name and email entered by the reviewer and are stored without a WordPress user ID. The AppYourShop server signs the request; a mobile app cannot call this endpoint directly. WordPress applies its normal comment moderation, spam, duplicate, and flood checks. Reviews awaiting approval are hidden in the app until WordPress approves them.

Mobile payments

AppYourShop payment providers are configured in AppYourShop, independently of the payment providers configured for the web store. To accept mobile payments, enable AppYourShop Mobile Payment in WooCommerce > Settings > Payments. It is available only to signed mobile Store API requests and is never shown in the normal web checkout.

WooCommerce creates the order as pending. The WordPress site then polls AppYourShop for the final payment state and completes or fails its own order locally. AppYourShop cannot call WordPress to change an order, and there is no payment-provider mapping between the app and WooCommerce.

Verbose request logging is disabled by default. Enable it only while debugging, because synchronized requests can contain customer, order, cart, or catalog data. Request log retention is configurable from the settings page.

When the plugin is connected to AppYourShop, synchronization failures are reported automatically to AppYourShop using a sanitized error report. These reports include operational metadata such as tenant ID, site URL, plugin version, WordPress/WooCommerce/PHP versions, failed operation, failed step, HTTP status, endpoint, and error message. They do not include passwords, OAuth secrets, access tokens, cookies, authorization headers, or full synchronized customer/order/product payloads.

External Services

This plugin connects your WooCommerce store to AppYourShop, a service that creates and operates branded mobile shopping apps for WooCommerce merchants.

The connection is required because the mobile app needs store information from WooCommerce, and WooCommerce needs to receive activity that happens in the mobile app.

When the store is connected and synchronized, AppYourShop may receive store data needed to power the mobile app, including:

  • Product catalog information.
  • Product categories, tags, attributes, and images.
  • Customer account information.
  • Customer-only mobile API session and refresh credentials, exchanged when the customer signs in and renewed while their app session is active. AppYourShop stores these credentials encrypted on its server; WordPress stores only a hash of the refresh credential.
  • Cart information.
  • Coupon information.
  • Order information.
  • Shipping method information.
  • Store settings needed for the mobile shopping experience.
  • Product reviews, including guest reviewer name and email when a guest submits a review in the app.
  • Synchronization status and progress.

The plugin may also send sanitized error reports to AppYourShop when synchronization or connection problems occur. These reports help AppYourShop support diagnose integration problems and do not include passwords, OAuth secrets, access tokens, cookies, authorization headers, or full synchronized customer/order/product payloads.

FAQ

Does this plugin require WooCommerce?

Yes. The synchronization and cart functionality depend on WooCommerce.

Does this plugin require WPML?

No. WPML is optional. If WPML is active, the plugin uses it for multilingual synchronization.

Does the administrator need to create a WordPress API user manually?

No. The plugin does not require or create a WordPress API user. WooCommerce Store API cart requests are limited to the cart token held by the customer session.

Does the plugin log sensitive data?

Verbose request logging is disabled by default. When enabled for debugging, request and response data may include customer, order, cart, or product information. Keep verbose logging disabled in production unless actively diagnosing a problem, and use the retention setting to clean old logs.

Does the plugin send error reports?

Yes. Connected stores automatically send sanitized synchronization error reports to AppYourShop so integration problems can be diagnosed. Full request and response bodies are not included in these reports.
