AGY Slider for Elementor

Description

AGY Slider for Elementor adds a standalone slider widget to Elementor Free.
Build image-based hero sections and content slides using Elementor’s native
controls. Elementor Pro, AGY Core, and an AGY theme are not required.

Features

  • Per-slide images or background colors, with an optional separate mobile image.
  • Cover, contain, or original image fit and responsive focal points.
  • Headings, descriptions, optional kicker text, and button or whole-slide links.
  • Native Elementor button icons with responsive size, spacing, and placement.
  • No overlay, solid-color overlay, or native Elementor gradient controls.
  • Global styling and per-slide alignment, positioning, and color overrides.
  • Responsive height, widths, padding, spacing, and typography.
  • Fade, horizontal slide, and subtle scale transitions.
  • Arrows, dots, optional looping, swipe gestures, and opt-in autoplay.
  • Button borders, hover colors, transition timing, and optional heading shadows.
  • Keyboard navigation, right-to-left support, and reduced-motion handling.
  • Optional content entrance animations and slow zoom effects.
  • Navigation controls are omitted when there is only one slide.

Lightweight by design

The widget uses its own small vanilla JavaScript controller. It does not load
jQuery, Swiper, or another slider library as a dependency. It can use Elementor’s
existing editor event bridge; Elementor and your theme still load their own
assets.

The plugin’s CSS and JavaScript are registered through Elementor’s widget
dependency system and loaded on pages that use the widget. Multiple instances
share those assets. Kicker text, icons, and gradients add no runtime JavaScript.
Icons use Elementor’s own rendering mechanism; depending on your selection and
Elementor settings, Elementor may load SVG or icon-font resources.

There are no extra admin screens, shortcodes, custom post types, database tables,
generated image sizes, or recurring background jobs. Settings are stored inside
the Elementor document and travel with normal Elementor exports.

Images and performance

Enable “Above-the-fold / hero image” only for an image that needs priority loading.
The first image then uses eager loading and high fetch priority. Disable it for
sliders below the fold. On pages with multiple sliders, prioritize only images
that genuinely need it.

Later image sources are activated when their slides are needed. WordPress srcset
and picture sources are used where available. The mobile source follows
Elementor’s active mobile breakpoint. Resizing the browser may load a different
source.

Choose appropriately sized, compressed images from the Media Library. This plugin
does not replace image optimization or guarantee a Lighthouse score or search
ranking. Two to four focused slides are usually a good starting point.

Semantic markup and accessibility

Headings, text, and links are rendered in the initial HTML response. Later slide
images are deferred; indexing every image is not guaranteed.

The default heading tag is H2. Use “Use H1 for the first slide only” only when the
slider contains the page’s main heading, and check your overall heading structure.
The first H1 is not reassigned as the active slide changes.

Decorative images have empty alternative text by default. For meaningful images,
disable that option and provide descriptive alternative text. A different mobile
image should convey the same meaning. Kicker text is not a heading. Button icons
are decorative; their accessible link name comes from the button text.

Inactive slides use inert and aria-hidden. Arrow and dot controls have minimum
44-by-44-pixel targets. With navigation hidden, the slider itself is keyboard
focusable. Arrow keys, Home, and End support keyboard navigation.

Autoplay is off by default. When enabled, a visible pause/play control is added.
Keyboard focus and manual navigation stop autoplay; restarting is up to the user.
Hovering, background tabs, and off-screen sliders suspend the timer. Reduced
motion disables autoplay and animations. Autoplay is always disabled in the editor.

Content can grow instead of being clipped, and space is reserved for the tallest
slide to avoid height jumps during transitions. Check color contrast, focus
visibility, and content/control overlap when applying your own styles.

Privacy and external services

AGY Slider itself does not call external services, collect telemetry, load remote
fonts, contact a license server, or require an account. Images and links you
configure, plus your theme, Elementor, and other plugins, may have their own
network behavior.

Translation

The source language is English. A complete Turkish translation is bundled as
PO/MO files, together with an English POT template in the languages directory.
The text domain is agy-slider. Standard WordPress language packs take priority
over bundled translations. WordPress 6.8 or newer is required so that bundled
catalogs are discovered automatically from the plugin headers, without a manual
text-domain loader.

Editor labels, initial sample text, navigation labels, and motion-preference
messages are translatable. JavaScript labels are translated in PHP and passed
through the widget’s existing configuration. Previously saved slide text is
user content and is not automatically translated or overwritten.

Installation

  1. Install and activate Elementor (the free version is sufficient).
  2. In Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin, upload the AGY Slider ZIP and activate it.
  3. Open a page with Elementor, search for “AGY Slider”, and drag the widget into the page.
  4. Under Content > Slides, add or reorder slides and choose images, text, and links.
  5. Under Content > Slider settings, configure height, navigation, transitions, and autoplay.
  6. Use the Style tab to adjust layout, typography, buttons, and navigation.
  7. Preview desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts before publishing.

Keep the extracted plugin folder named agy-slider. Back up your site before updating; clear any page or CDN cache after an update if needed.

FAQ

Do I need Elementor Pro or an AGY theme?

No. Elementor Free is required. AGY Slider works independently of AGY Core and
AGY Child. If Elementor is inactive, the plugin shows an admin notice rather
than registering its widget.

Where are the settings?

Inside each AGY Slider widget in Elementor. No separate plugin settings page
is added.

Will changing the site language translate my slides?

No. It changes translatable interface and accessibility messages. Saved headings,
descriptions, button labels, and custom slider names remain exactly as you entered
them. Newly inserted sample slides use the current interface language.

Does the plugin include every Elementor Pro Slides feature?

No. It is an independently implemented, focused slider, not a copy of Elementor
Pro Slides. Video backgrounds, post/product queries, nested Elementor templates,
layer editors, and timeline editing are outside its scope.

Are extra icon libraries included?

No. The widget uses Elementor’s native icon picker and renderer. Elementor’s
own icon resources may be loaded. SVG upload security settings are not changed;
only upload SVG files you trust.

What happens when JavaScript is unavailable?

The first slide and its link remain usable, but navigation to other slides does
not work. Modern browsers supporting inert, Pointer Events, and CSS Grid are
required; legacy-browser polyfills are not bundled.

Will upgrading change my existing design?

Version 1.1.2 changes source strings and adds translation catalogs, not slider
styles or behavior. Stored control keys and values are unchanged. No content or
database migration is performed. Sites without a matching translation display
English interface and generated accessibility labels.
