What you can do

Register or log in to a MICROFACTOR account from wp-admin
Save brand name, category, hero products, and competitors
Subscribe to Starter / Growth / Pro plans
Run AI visibility scans and view the latest score and scenarios

External services

This plugin connects to the MICROFACTOR cloud API (default: https://microfactor-ai-visibility.onrender.com) to:

Authenticate accounts and store an API key on your site
Save brand setup and competitor lists
Process paid visibility scans via the cloud service (which may call AI providers such as ForAI / OpenAI-compatible APIs)
Start Stripe Checkout / Customer Portal for subscriptions (handled by the cloud service, not directly by this plugin)

Account email, brand data, competitors, and scan results are sent to the MICROFACTOR cloud when you use those features. Without connecting an account, the plugin only stores local settings. The Cloud API base URL is hidden from the normal Account UI (developers can reveal it with WP_DEBUG or the metis_ai_show_api_base filter).

Requirements

A self-hosted WordPress site (or WordPress.com plan that allows custom plugins)
Outbound HTTPS from your server to the cloud API
A paid subscription to run scans (account registration itself is free)

Installation

Install from Plugins Add New, or upload the plugin zip
Activate MICROFACTOR AI Visibility
Go to MICROFACTOR Account and create or connect an account
Complete Setup, choose a Plan, then run a scan from Setup results / scan actions

FAQ

Do I need my own OpenAI API key on WordPress?: No. Keys stay on the MICROFACTOR cloud. Your site only stores a cloud API token after you connect.
Is the plugin free?: Installing and connecting an account is free. Running scans requires a paid plan processed through Stripe on the MICROFACTOR cloud.
Can I use my own API server?: Yes, if you self-host a compatible cloud API. The Cloud API / API base URL field is hidden for normal merchants. Enable WP_DEBUG in wp-config.php, or return true from the metis_ai_show_api_base filter, then save a custom URL under MICROFACTOR Account.
Does this work on WordPress.com?: Only on plans that allow uploading custom plugins (e.g. Business). Free WordPress.com sites cannot install this zip.
Where are the legal policies?: Privacy Policy, Contact information, Refund Policy, and Shipping Policy are all available in wp-admin under MICROFACTOR Legal & policies. Privacy is also summarized in the External services section above.
What is your refund policy?: All sales are final. Once a subscription or one-time payment is processed we do not offer refunds, returns, or store credit, including for unused scans or dissatisfaction with results. You may cancel a subscription at any time to stop future billing, but cancellation does not refund amounts already paid. See MICROFACTOR Legal & policies Refund Policy.
How is the service delivered? Is there shipping?: There is no physical shipping. MICROFACTOR AI Visibility is a digital service: scan results and reports are delivered inside the plugin dashboard or by email, according to your plan’s timeline. See MICROFACTOR Legal & policies Shipping Policy.
