   I have just started developing a small site using Retina 0.1 and find that the live pages have an Edit button which I assume is avalable to anyone accessing the page, but I can't seem to get rid off except by switching to a different theme.

   I must be missing something obvious but I just can't see what!

   most themes have this edit button as a convenience;

   have a look into the templates and search for edit_post_link()
