Session Issues with Index.php

Hey guys,

This has me pulling my hair out so I would appreciate any insights.

I have PHP sessions to manage my user base. It’s a custom login separate from WordPress. The user logs in, a unique id is generated and that along with the username is stored in the session.

Now every single page on my site can recognize the session variable, except for my index page. When I re-activate my theme, then the index page recognizes it, but when I logout, every page recognizes it’s gone, except the index page. Reactivate my theme, and all of a sudden it recognizes the session variables are empty as well.

I’m at my wit’s end, I have no idea how to proceed or how to fix this.
