Due to the release of the last version, and because of some problems I experienced in the wordpress editor, I chose to download and install the new version from scratch instead of upgrading it. I deleted (after saving a backup) the files in my old blog directory. However I left the database intact. I had just three posts but one of them too long that I didn't want to re-create them.
After following the instructions the same way I did the first time (download it, configure wp_config.php with proper access constants for the database and upload it to its final directory) I called wp-admin/install.php but a page saying "Error establishing a database connection" appears.
What else could I do? I'd prefer not to use a new empty database, but if there's no other choice, I'd like to know.
