Pretty Permalink Problem

    Hi everyone,

    I’m having some trouble with ‘pretty permalinks’. I’ve got all of them working for the other pages on my site however when I try to put in a certain custom permalink for this one page of mine, the ‘about’ page, I input http://www.pixilily.com/about and wordpress automatically changes it to http://www.pixilily.com/about-2 .

    Any ideas as to why this is happening? I don’t have another page named ‘about’ either. My hunch is that possibly wordpress thinks there is already an ‘about’ page? Any ideas as to how to solve this?

    Check the Pages trash to make sure there isn’t an old page called “about” (the default install comes with one) and empty the trash if it’s there. If it’s not there, let us know.

    I checked my trash and it it’s already empty… still not sure what’s going on. thanks for your reply btw

    You may need to check the database (carefully!) and see if there’s an “about” page stuck there. I’ll have to let someone else walk you through that if needed because I don’t do a lot of work directly in the db.

    yeah I’m also thinking there is probably some remnant still in the database. I’m still rather new at wordpress so I’ll definitely need some help from someone else. Thanks for your input.
