When trying to edit individual widget settings, the Role heading is automatically expanding. Other headings either do not expand, or only expand down a little bit. This makes it impossible to change settings.

Are you using BuddyPress? If so, the BuddyPress theme places a JavaScript al over the whole WordPress install, including the backend which bombs the accordion preventing it from expanding and folding. There is a workaround in place in the development version 1.3.7.9 by removing the BuddyPress JavaScript from the Dynamic Widgets edit page.
