[resolved] Version 2.6.2 Bug (9 posts)

Hello I ran across a bug for our website. We're run a school newspaper meaning we have over 1700 authors from over the years. Thanks to your plugin we've been able to publish and manage all of these authors.

However as of Version 2.6.2 we noticed that the Author box would not find some usernames no matter what we tried (First Name, Last Name, ID) If I typed in 1613, it would find the user, but it would not find 1621.

Solution was to downgrade to 2.6.1 which did work finding all users. I'd be happy to assist in debugging if you need.

Interesting... sorry about that. A few questions:

    • Does the issue persist with all other plugins deactivated?
    • Have you made any caps modifications to your user roles?
    • Is there anything special about the usernames it doesn't find (e.g. special characters, etc.)?

I, too, am a high school newspaper adviser and this plugin has been wonderful for us. While we have just 1200+ user names, as of V2.6.2 we can no longer access or change authors. It's clearly a problem with the upgrade because: a) it was working beautifully until we upgraded, and b) we deactivated ALL of the other plugins except this one and the problem still persists. HELP! We LOVE this plugin!

    Btw…
We just downgraded to V 2.6.1 as well and it's back (that is, it's working again)!
Still, it would be nice to access some of the updated features of V 2.6.2. We too would be willing to help debug.
    Thanks so much!

This probably has to do with the sheer number of users in your system, although I'm surprised it works with some authors and not others.

Downgrading to v2.6.1 is the best approach for now. I'll see what I can do about porting the enhancements in v2.6.2 to contexts where you have a large number of users.

We have just over 200 authors and I've been holding off this upgrade because we don't want any issues. Can you tell me if that small a number will be safe to upgrade or not? Thanks.

Uncertain, it would depend on your hosting environment. I've committed a fix that will be available in v2.6.3, which should be released next week if you'd like to just wait.
