• Hi there

I am using the http://www.1and1.co.uk blog tool powered by WordPress 2.2.1.

The only problem I am having is that the email sent out to subscribers when I add a new post shows the html coding like below. Can anyone help please? I’ve been through every option on the 1and1 site, and I’ve checked different email addresses and always comes out the same.

    Thanks
    Janice

  • WordPress 2.2.1? Are you absolutely sure about that? That’s really old.

Thanks for your response. I’m new to blogging.

That’s what it says on the screen.

Maybe I should check that with 1and1?

Just found this on 1and1 FAQ:

There are many third-party software tools available for creating a blog. Inside our Linux packages is a 1&1 Blog tool to that utilizes WordPress 2.9.2 to get you started. Using the 1&1 blog saves you the trouble of installing WordPress, additional plugins and themes for those not experienced or comfortable enough with setting up and configuring a blog manually. Because of this and for security reasons, additional themes and modules may not be manually installed however a number of WordPress themes and plugins are available with the 1&1 Blog already.

I’m now thinking that I should have just set it up on WordPress!

It took me ages to populate the blog and was about to start sharing the blog URL.

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer what I’ve done into a WordPress Blog?

I can’t add in new plugins or widgets either.

Advice would be gratefully received. Thank you in advance.

It would be extremely difficult to import that content into a WordPress 3.2.1 blog. You’d have to start off by installing WP 2.2.1 and importing your existing database into the new one. Then you’d have to carry out a series of upgrades: 2.2.1 -> 2.3 -> 2.5 -> 2.7 -> 2.8 -> 2.9 -> 3.0 -> 3.2.1

Oh gosh. That sounds like it would be difficult and time consuming.

I’ve jsut downloaded the latest version of WordPress and am trying to install that. At this stage I have little enough content to be able to copy and paste most of it into a new design.

Although at the moment I’m getting Error : PHP is not running.

Contact your hosts. It sounds like PHP is nor running on your hosting account.

Thanks Esmi – I will contact 1and1 then.

    I really appreciate your help.

    Have a great day.
