I am transferring a domain and site to another hosting company. I followed the directions in the codex, but I have three problems that are occurring.

The domain is still pointing to old server. The new one is just an IP address.

    1. When I try to login to the admin site it forwards me back to the site on the previous server. So I cannot login to make any changes to the new site unless I use phpMyAdmin to edit.

    2. The homepage is showing an Error 404 page. As if index doesn't exist.

    3. When I did an update to go from 2.8 to 2.8.4 now I get a 500 Internal Server Error.

Any thoughts on why this is happening? Should I just go ahead and point the domain to the new server?

Thanks in advance for anyone's help in this manner.

Here are the links to the domain
    http://www.autoscope.net (old server location)
    http://216.227.221.191/~autos320/ (new server location)

Did you change DNS to point to the new server? You have to change your name servers - at wherever you have your domain registered - to the name servers of the new hosting.

Your 500 error might just be a bad .htaccess file; bad encoding, corrupted rewrite block.
