k2/random image/css issue

I’m using a modified version of k2 on my site. And I’m trying to use a rotation of banners as the background to the header as is done in random image.

Using the code from the random image theme, I can get the script to behave properly and give me the correct path to the image every time. But, using the k2 style sheet in addition to the #header style reference in header.php (as is done in ‘random image’) doesn’t seem to be working.
