• Before you can upload your import file, you will need to fix the following error:

Unable to create directory D:\Hosting\4850040\html/wp-content/uploads//2009/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

How Do I fix this problem????

  • In Admin under Settings/Other options you have specified a directory for uploads (being “uploads” and also selected the option to save in directories based on year/month system).

So either you make these directories writable with the help of an ftp program and set (chmod) them to 0755 or even 0777 or you deselect the year/month option (AFTER backing up your uploads!!) and ofcourse your directory “uploads” has still to be writable , 0755 or 0777 .

In an ftp program click with the right mous ebutton on the directory and select properties.

    Thanks alot for the reply.

But, I have tried the 0755 and 0777 chmod method. nothing seems to help it. and the deselecting of the year. How is this done???

I also added the 11 folder to the uploads folder in “2009”

and now i recieve this error:

The uploaded file could not be moved to D:\Hosting\4850040\html/wp-content/uploads//2009/11.

    ?????????????

Oh, I think this is over my head too. It only leaves the strange double // in uploads//2009/11
    Your path under Admn/Settings is wp-content/uploads ? without a trailing / so NOT wp-content/uploads/ ?
