Is the blog hosted on your computer?

    Well, it's quite simple.
Any WP install has to be hosted somewhere. Most of us pay a hosting company to host our domain and have our website hosted. Others host their website on their own computer (PC if you wish).
Now, if I have my website hosted by a hosting company on their server I can crash my own computer (PC) here in my basement a million times and my website will NOT be affected. Becasue it is not on my computer.

You said: your PC crashed and your website disappeared. That's why I asked: was it hosted on your computer? If not, then assuming that the crash of your computer in your home has anything to do with the website hosted 1,000 miles away on a host company's server - is nonsense.

O.k well it's not the crash itself that caused my problem because i was able to log perfectly (so yes i do have a hosting company) the problem is that the person who cleaned my p.c. afterwards (appearantly they felt it was necessary) deleted everything based in my ftp-client and my ftp-client itself. So i downloaded the free client again and restarted the installation.
