I made an image which I'm using as a background image for my header but the parts of the image which should be transparent are showing up as white. Any body know what I'm doing wrong?
I edited the image in photoshop, deleted the background and then saved it as a png image.

Thanks for the link but that's not what I'm trying to do. The image was saved with a transparent background in photoshop and I'm using that image as a background for my header but transparent area is showing up white on the page.

The image is showing up as the background image but it's white where it should be transparent.
I referred to the following article and followed the advice given there but it's not working.

I think I've got it sorted now. I made the mistake of trying to add a background image to an element that already had a a background image attached to it.
