   I am looking to add thousands of photos and images to my WordPress site.

   What are the best options in terms of plugins and galleries etc?

   I recommend NextGEN Gallery

   I use it myself also, works very good for large amounts of pictures.

   If you like to use a gallery system with your selfhosted pics and photo's then NextGEN is the best option, otherwise the Flickr Photo gallery is probably great but i haven't tested it
