for [moronic expletive deleted] sake ive spent numerous days, browsing through the network and trying all sorts of crazy [moronic expletive deleted] but none of it works. I tried both xampp and wamp. nothing. i looked through numerous ideas and solutions-nothing. Changing the “l” to capital “L” in localhost, adding random lines in the wp-db.php and so on. and still

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

so honestly is there a solution that makes any sort of logical sense or is it time to forget about wordpress and look for other solutions? thanks!
