customizing sidebars

I am using Xeiro 1.1 Theme at http://www.fromthedust.org.

I want to add “content boxes” to my sidebars. Ie. In addition to having “popular posts”, “recent comments”, “recent posts” etc I want to add other boxes such as “currently reading” etc. I believe that it is set up so these are programmed into sidebar.php but I am unsure of two things.

First, is it possible to drag and drop new stuff into my sidebars?

Second, If it is not possible how would I go a/b coding in new stuff without losing what I already have. (As I don’t have any background in programming code.)
