You need to create a MySQL database. Usually, if your host provides a control panel (or interface to all aspects of your web hosting), and your package provides MySQL databases, you’ll find an option to create a MySQL database.

Where would I find the Control panel? Under my FTP?

It tends to be provided through your webhost’s site after logging in.
I’m hosted by another by someone else domain…would I need to ask the person who owns it for a database?

Yes, you probably would – a subdomain of mine has to ask me for a db, so you may well fit the same bill.
Be sure to get the connection details too, or have them handy when you test, just in case it is not ‘localhost’
