   Every couple of days my site goes down with a 500 Internal server error and the only way to get it back is to redo the .htaccess file which never changes

   How can it work then suddenly not work if it hasn't changed?

   You should ask assistance from your hosting provider

   Not sure they can do wordpress support

   It has to be server problem may be at the time server is busy or down and can not connect and gives the error not wordpress problem
