code in comments not working?

The code-tag doesn’t seem to work in my comments section. All tags nested within the code-tag are stripped, which makes it impossible to post code examples in my blog.
If I know your guys correctly, you already have a fix – and if I know myself correctly I’ve been looking for this fix in the wrong places!
Btw. I’m using wp 1.0
