Cannot Update WordPress or install plugins

    Hi all,

    I have been receiving huge amounts of spam lately. I wanted to install Better WordPress reCAPTCHA (support Akismet) to get rid of that but I got prompted for connection information. Entering the correct admin password and domain resulted in a “wrong used/pw” message.

    When I tried to install the 3.5 WP update, entering the same admin/pw credentials resulted in the “server connection error” .

    Anyone can help please?

    Try inputting your ftp username & password at this prompt, not the WordPress login credential. If this does not work checkwhether the server is configured correctly to allow this. Contact your hosting company for support with this.

    Alternatively you can perform a manual update of WordPress http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

    And you can install plugins by manually uploading the plugin folder by ftp to the wp-content/plugins directory.
