I have recently changed my PC to Fedora from Vista, and continue using Firefox - however this change seems to result in me being unable to access anything to continue with site admin. As usual, I am asked for username and password, which is all OK - but it returns a message 'you do not have permissions to access these files' (or very similar wording). Has anyone seen this, or know how to resolve?

I have read this, thanks, but I am not so familiar with code pages that I want to start dabbling with php files. I opened the admin/options.php file with an editor, to have a look, but nothing obvious that has to do with db reset. I cannot open the same file in a browser, for the same 'you do not have permission' message that I already have! Maybe I just need to start all over now I have Linux/Fedora?
Have you installed any plugins before having this issue? Or just happened after changing the server?
Maybe try to rename your plugins (via ftp) and see if it helps.

The system worked fine under windows! Nothing has changed except my install of Fedora. I think its time to start again - not such a big deal. I can try a new test setup under Fedora and see if that works, before destroying the old one.
Cool,
I'm going away for a while now,
but let me know if there's anything I can help.
I will check this back as soon as I get back :)
